Welcome to No/Lo. I decided to create weekly challenges to motivate & inspire myself & others to stop shopping (or shop mindfully) and start crafting. You do not have to post a project to participate in No/Lo. You can just check-in about your week, spending or otherwise & know that someone is listening. You can confess your shopping “sins” if you like Yes, for sure, you can post your projects here! CHECK-IN: So, I cracked on spending, I bought a Gossamer Blue box & the stamp grab bag. I’ve never bought any GB products, so I’m really excited to see their stuff. I'm really sad that we’ve lost this kit club. I haven’t worked on much this week, I have my 2016 DD album out on my desk & I'm photo editing. I’m really excited that my December Daily order arrived but I won’t get to do anything with it until I’m home again. ORGANIZATION CHALLENGE: No physical organization challenge this week. Instead the challenge is to write out some projects that you want to complete in 2017. Whether it’s photos that you would like to take, layouts that you want to make, Christmas cards… organize your thoughts onto paper & plan out the rest of your 2017 projects (excluding DD, which most of us have been thinking about since Aug/Sep). PROJECT CHALLENGE: As a continuation from Friday the 13th and leading up to Halloween. Do you have any superstitions that you practice? Are they cultural superstitions, like Chinese with the numbers 4 & 8 or Irish like “Kissing the Blarney stone”. Do you throw a pinch of spilt salt over your shoulder or knock on wood? What are your superstitions and why? How long have you been doing them? Did you "inherit" them from family members i.e. parents, grandparents, great grandparents? CARDMAKERS: Make a card featuring a salt n’ pepper shaker or a horseshoe or other superstitious symbol. BONUS POINTS: Use mixed media, paste, gel, mists, paint, etc… COLOR COMBO: Use the lucky color combo of Red/Green or Yellow/Red or any metallic. Save

Oh I definitely caved on spending with a pre order on some of the Felicity Jane Christmas range. International shipping is a killer but I really like her stuff (or at least that and the "I might not be able to buy it later" is how I justified it to myself). On the plus side I have been madly scrapping for the last couple of weeks and actually using up some supplies.

Haven't spent anything this week and actually got two layouts done...what's funny is I went into my room to work on my last vacation and ended up with two completely unrelated layouts!! My mojo is sometimes a little wonky!! LOL!

I spent a bit this week....I got the FYC Comfort and Joy Christmas kit plus a few bits and pieces from Meili Paperie. Also got sucked into some of the new SC albums, which I am annoyed at myself for! They are great albums, but after ordering on the 13th and paying for upgraded shipping, they were only shipped on the 19th, so could take ages to get to me. Of course, they create a label much earlier than that, so it looks like they are shipping things very quickly, but the reality is quite different. According to the tracking the package went from Bowling Green to Miami. I'm in Australia, so that's an interesting route to take. On the scrapping front, I've not done anything. Everything is still packed away, as we have our house for sale and no-one seems to want to buy! I wish someone would hurry up and want it, so I can get all my stuff out again!

I missed out on buying the Feed Your Craft Xmas kits, which was probably a good thing really. I picked up a package of their die cuts and the puffy stickers for far less money, and, really, that should be plenty. I bought a new paper trimmer with a great coupon but it was horrible, so I snuck it back into the packaging and returned it. It was only $13 with the coupon, but it sucked. I got a CTMH kit that I had ordered online (thanks to a tempting YouTube video) but I have already used up most of it making Xmas cards for the card exchange here. I'm using a lot of red and green lately. So many Christmas cards... I made some black cat cards for Halloween a while back (I make them to sell, so I have to create out of season) but I'm not superstitious. My nana taught me all of her beliefs about bad luck but they didn't take hold in my brain. I always remember when I see a peacock feather or an umbrella up in a house or an opal, but I don't really believe in luck. I got married 15 years ago on the unluckiest day of the luck-calendar in the country I married in - nobody else was at city hall to get married that day. I do touch wood though - I can get behind old fashioned tree worship

I finally finished up 2 pages I was working on/off this month and started a 3rd. I am debating the Pink Fresh box, I am on a freeze, but I won 400 on a slot machine and decided I wanted 20 for scrap supplies and the rest will go for something for the house- I may just do the Pinkfresh box even though Id spend more than I wanted, I would be getting a better deal than if I were to go to Ms like I planned. It will depend on how much shipping will be.

Organization challenge: I want to redo my stamps. They're currently in binders on cling/magnetic boards (cling on one side, magnet on the other). I think I would like to redo them in stamp pockets, so I need to order some of those.

Staying away from that GB sale. It's so tempting but we just got married and I need to cool the spending. Plus, I'm excited about this week's Kelly Purkey release so I want to save my money for that.

I haven’t spent much since I left SC behind. However I did cave... I have never done a DD before and I worry I won’t keep up with it, but I think it will be something my boys will love to look back on, so I bit the bullet and bought a kit from Elle’s Studio. I love the traditional colours in that kit. I also got some birthday money from my parents and am debating getting either a Selphy or a WRMK typewriter.
That will probably be the last thing I buy outside of adhesive. My husband has been put off work due to illness so we will have to watch our spending. So I guess I will be in the NO camp now instead of the LO!

If I had a specific amount to spend and was choosing between those two items, I would get the Selphy, hands down. It allows you to print your photos when you need them: perfect for a December Daily. It also can print from your phone, wireless. The typewriter takes up a lot of space, and--judging from comments I have seen on line--I am not sure you would be happy with the quality of the results.

I was at a crop on the weekend, with a store on site, so managed to spend some $$ for sure. But I also used a lot of new and old supplies on my 30 pages created there.
I think my most irrational fear is that I will run out of something I NEED when I am home here on the farm. My freezers (yes, more than one of them) and pantry are full of food. I have shelves stuffed with books, my closets with clothes in 3 sizes (what if I gain or lose weight?). And my scraproom is overflowing with the choices I may need to make for future crafting.
And I truly believe that if I get rid of something today, I will certainly need it tomorrow LOL.
Don't send an intervention. I am happy with all my options...

I did buy some Christmas items from Color Cast Designs this past week. And this weekend I am going to have to replenish my pop dots, red line tape, and some white cardstock. As far as projects I got my Christmas Cards done and I got the cover and spine of my DD done.

*sneaking in* I've seen this on SC and here and must have missed the original posts. What does NO / LO stand for? I'm sure I'll smack my head when I find out, but I can't figure it out!

It's referring to no spend or low spend - being mindful of your shopping or quitting shopping and getting down to crafting. The challenges are ones Pam creates for herself and invites others to join in on.

YouTube videos strike again! Vicki Papaioannou is so dangerous! I've hated most of the recent SSS kits, even after seeing her use them, but as soon as I saw the latest one I knew that this video was going to push me over the edge. Sure enough, even elements that weren't especially tempting looked great after she got her hands on them. Beware.
In other words, I just spent $36 on a card kit. Some of those stickers are probably going into my journal, but hopefully I make some pretty cards too.

I would probably buy an Epson PM-400, that will help keep you current with your DD. Good luck with your DD, you'll love it.

Hello everyone. Posting this early and will repost with the Oct 27th No/Lo. Paper Issues is having an online crop this weekend. Your project challenge for this week is to join the crop & participate in the conversation or in any of the online challenges they will have this weekend. If you do participate, please either post your project here or a link to your project here. I hope everyone is having a great week so far. Funny story. I was off yesterday & after I got through running around, I decided to go pick up my pre-ordered Christmas collections that had arrived at my LSS. I left my house at 4 p.m. & the store was open until 6 p.m. (plenty of time). It rained here & everyone forgot how to drive. I made it to the LSS at 6:10 p.m., 10 minutes too late!!! I still managed to go to Chapters & find all the remaining gifts for my god-daughter's December birthday & for Christmas. Plus I found a ton of novels on sale for my mom. Super frustrating & super positive day all wrapped up in one!

Kelly Purkey is having a release on Saturday so I'm awaiting the reveal email. Probably not the smartest move for my wallet.
