Are liberals more vulgar? My mother, a (non-unionized) teacher used to say it was the sign of a poor vocabulary. Or is it just being lazy? Well, coming from a nearly completely die hard Republican family I can tell you that is not true. Not all of my Republican family use vulgarity but a great many do. But you were just looking to stir the pot, weren't you?

But Trump is a republican not a liberal. You can't get more vulgar than " grab them by the ***** or Get that son of a ***** off the field' What he said is wrong, but Trump is not a pea. If you use vulgarity to describe him, then you are no more evolved and make that language acceptable. It happens on both sides. Don't go down this road: Kennedy was horrible. This is hilarious! The peas are held to a higher standard than the President? Rofl!

i am far less bothered by vulgarity than I am by holier-than-thou prissiness. I'm far from prissy. That's name calling and sexist. I'm a prude because I don't like the reading the f-word on a scrapbooking board? Guess what... this IS NOT a scrapbooking board.

With everything that is going on with the world, this issue is worth 11 pages?
For fucks sake, someone needs to examine their priorities.

This thread reminds me of an episode from Season 1 of The Wire. An entire 5 minute scene where the two detectives have an entire conversation and investigate a crime scene only using the word 'fuck'. One of the most brilliant scenes ever written! The subtleties of that word can be mind-boggling. The Wire 'Fuck Scene'

Clearly you haven't read the thread because it is NOT 11 pages about the original topic. It went in some very funny and interesting directions. I'm still working my way through it.

Me too! But I try not too when making political arguments. (JC wouldn't like the name-calling.) So does JC just care when it is politics?

For those of you who would rather go save the world, go on with your bad self. No shame in replying to a message board topic that you find interesting. And why are you here reading two peas? There are people to save, protests to walk, letters to write, phone calls to make...

A well placed f-bomb is sometimes necessary.
I don't see it often used on this board (this thread exempted), but sometimes it is the right word.

Yesterday driving i got road ragey at someone who sat through the left turn arrow. As i passed her into the parking lot i shouted at my closed window (because I'm not a heathen) "mutherfucking whorebag bitch". My husband did a double take then cracked up. I'm stealing that phrase!!! Lmao!!!

I can take a lot of injustice. I try to remain calm when all else is falling down. BUT people who are on their damn phones while they sit in a turning lane deserve to be called names. I hate cell phones for this very reason. Well, until I need mine for some reason... but not in traffic. I prefer the Kevin Hart quote... "My mom told me to tell you! To mind your damn motherfucking business bitch, you lil' stupid bitch , dumb teacher bitch, 2+2 not knowin' what the fuck it is bitch, cross eyed cryin' down your back fat foot ass bitch, long titty no nipple havin' ass bitch!"

Actually, I am guessing that the F-bomb is actually used here significantly less than the average message board. We, as a group, are fairly tame in our language. That someone is hand-slapping us for our profane language is freaking hilarious.

I'm going to go ahead and add a quick fuck off to the OP. I'm a liberal and I love to swear, but I definitely don't have poor vocabulary. To the rest of my fellow swear happy peas: have a great fucking night! If anything, use of vulgar lingo is proof of richer vocabulary as recent studies (2015-2016) have shown ( read more). The older generations seem to be clutching onto their pearls for dear life as they are faced with more educated younger gens (proportionally speaking) who are more open-minded and loose-tongued (the two seem to go hand in hand, albeit not as an exclusive but only general rule). What was once taboo is no more. Tale as old as time cue Belle in her yellow dress. C'est la vie. Rock on, swearing sailors! Have a great fucking morning! ETA: this is an oldie from French comic trio Les Inconnus ('the unknown'). The French captions and subtitles are 70% of the joke (they try to make the dialogue sound more intellectual/deep and "proper" than what it is: a string of fucks and fuck-yous) but just wanted to share this little overseas gem to show how universally loved the English language "fuck" is.

I'm late to this party!
It is an unmoderated and open topic forum There are people from all kinds of backgrounds Profanity is common on forums on the Internet Trying to change other people's behavior doesn't work Many people can use profanity in certain parts of their lives and censor their language in others I doubt this is a liberal or conservative trend. If more liberals do use it on this board, it because there are more liberals on this board. I think there is a double standard for women when it comes to "vulgarity" and it is sexist and unfair. I am educated and I swear. I also have an above average vocalbulary and can moderate my language when needed. I don't believe this board is a place I need to moderate my language, but I often do.

Vulgar does not equal a lack of good vocabulary or laziness. It shows the character of the speaker, not their education or work ethic. Excellent point! What does this tell us about the character of those that choose vulgarity over knowledge or effort? Are they amoral? Are you referring to trump voters here?
