My grandson has a problem that every brand and size of pants his mom buys him is like they are not long enough in the back and his butt crack shows. He has a chunky but but it seems like he is just long in that area and none come up far enough. Does anyone that sews or have kids with this problem have any ideas on alterations or ways to fix this?
thanks,

Or wear elastic waist sweat pants until he is a big enough size to wear pants that are measure by the waist/length. Alternately, wear the pants that technically fit but let his crack show and get extra long t-shirts to cover the exposure.

Has he tried an athletic cut or relaxed cut? My son needs the extra space In the seat and thighs because he lifts weights. In Levi's he wears 541 and 559 (?) styles. Lucky brand also makes an athletic cut but I can't recall what it's called. Tjmaxx and marshall's carry these from time to time.
Old navy has a version that's bigger than Levi's and Lucky under the loose style.

Do they still make Husky boy sizes? Or he can go to a big and tall shop. Could also get longer t shirts.

Is he in men's or boy's sizes? It sounds like husky sizing would work well for him. Many brands and price points have husky but sometimes more of a selection online than in the store.

Husky sizes help or getting one size bigger and then getting them hemmed. I have two boys and one of them is long waisted and his butt crack has shown for years it is a constant battle. We ended up getting long white thin undershirt tank tops for him to tuck in and wear under his tshirts. Longer shirts work good too. We used to buy Gap athletic pants (soft ones) but they have since changed the style and they are now thin skinny leg style. I get frustrated with the boys style of clothes that have at the stores. I think it would be easier to dress little girls with tunics and leggings.

He is in a boys 8. I've looked for husky at children's place, crazy 8 and old navy. I know he's embarrassed about it. Thanks for all the suggestions..

My boys have always preferred to wear sweat pants. It was always more of a comfort thing, but no big deal as most kids seem to wear them vs. jeans to school. You can find athletic style pants everywhere.

I would say get a bigger size and look for a brand with an adjustable waist that you can cinch in so they stay up. It used to be that only the higher end brands like Children’s Place and Gap had adjustable waistbands, but I recently noticed that the jeans I just bought for DD from Target had it too. Or just get the kid a belt!

I was going to suggest Land's End or the JC Penney brand (I think it's called Arizona).

Not cheap, but maybe try Hanna Anderson? Their pants all have elastic waists and draw ties and are pretty roomy.

JcPenney's Arizona Brand, Like someone else suggested, Have Husky and an adjustable waist. I looked at Penney's online and they also sell levi's in a Husky. Just search for Boys Husky Jeans, Tons of different styles come up. You might just order him a few different pairs online and then let him have a try on at home to see which fit him better. Then he can sit, bend over, run etc. to make sure they stay up when he moves. Then return the ones that dont work and order more of the ones that do. I have had to do that with my son before. We have the opposite issue. he is so tall and skinny, finding Jeans that are long enough for his legs and skinny on his waist are hard to find. when he was young it was awesome with adjustable waist jeans, but now that he is in adult sizes ( because of the length) it is really hard!

Target has husky jeans as well as jeans with the knit waistband in store for boys - that's what I bought my daughter (who doesn't fit girls jeans because she has muscular legs and a butt despite being solidly 50% weight/height for her age, sigh)
