It is a great cause! I've participated for about 5 years now and plan to send about 150 cards. In addition, a friend and I have adopted our local nursing home and provide them with Christmas cards for their residents.
Thanks for sharing this reminder.

And adopting your local nursing home. That is amazing.

Thanks for posting this. A friend and I sent 100+ cards last year. I guess we'd better schedule a date and get a move on.

Hi, I did it last year and it was a lot of fun. This year, I am hoping to make 100+ for them.

Thanks for letting us know. I was on the fence last year about doing it and decided not to and totally regretted not doing it so this year I'm definitely in!! It's such a wonderful project!! Both my husband and daughter work in nursing homes. My husband in maintenance and my daughter as a nurse and they both think it's a fabulous project also!!

adopting your local nursing home This is a really nice idea! I have plenty of time on my hands this year, but don't know if I can get them made by the mailing date for the Caring Hearts one- so maybe I'll check with a nursing home or a local assisted living center about making cards for them.

Even if people send 10cards it's something.
My goal is 50 this year. Plus my friends are sending 10 each. So we will have 70.

That's cool! I might not be able to do much this year but I feel like this would be a fun project to work on with friends. Is this something that usually happens every year?

I mentioned it to my friends as something we could try to do locally, or for next year's drive, and several are keen to do some quickly for this year's drive. Yay!
I'm also going to talk to my local library about running a program to make cards for next year. We have "craftanoon" sessions about once a month, and this would be a really good cause for them to partner with, and we could have a few meet-ups during the year to work on cards for next year's drive. Hopefully they'll see the value in it. We might even be able to get people to bring their Xmas stash in to share with people who don't have supplies. Even if the library doesn't want to do it with us, we might use their space to have our own meet-up.

I put this on the NSBR side too.
Another option: 9-year-old cancer patient asks for cards to celebrate 'last Christmas' early
"For most, Christmas comes the same time every year. But for 9-year-old Jacob Thompson, a cancer patient with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma, the festive day is arriving early — and it will be his last.
According to the GoFundMe page set up by Jacob's mother, the family admitted him to Barbara Bush Children's Hospital on October 11 with the understanding that he would pass away within a month."
"Jacob loves the holiday season," Thompson Simard said, "and we want him to know that Christmas wishes come true and that there are good people who care all around the world."

My Girl Scout troop have done cards for our local senior residents homes before, but have never done the Caring Hearts Drive.
