We R Memory Keepers is the latest to jump on the revival bandwagon. According to their 10-23 blog post, "new" releases for next month include an "airbrush" attachment for markers, a Perfect Layers knockoff, and tearing rulers. A walk down memory lane! wermemorykeepers.wordpress.com

When I fist started scrapping in 1995, I had one of those, except I think it came from the kids art section! I kind of want one, because it's easier to control the spray than flicking ink or using one of those pump spray bottles.
ETA: Tim Holtz had one of these too.

It has been awhile, and these items are not on the market anymore, so time to introduce them to a whole new crop of crafters!
I used my "rippin' ruler" this weekend! Still like it when I want a torn look but a straight edge.
Got rid of the non staple stapler thingy awhile ago b/c it tended to jam rather than actually attach the papers.
Was never able to get the knack of the marker sprayer attachments: much prefer my spritz bottles.

A walk down memory lane! things like THIS are why it's never a good idea to get rid of your tools! But I guess not everyone has been scrapbooking for over 20 years, so there is a whole new crop of customers out there... (next thing you know, someone will re-release the Paper Dolls you can dress up to match your photos! )

I'm not sure but I think I still have my tearing rulers lol. I don't think I will be buying these again. I never had an airbrush but I don't think I need one.

oh, I KNOW I still have tearing rulers- because I just bought the ones from the SB store's tool area when it recently closed! I didn't even know paper tearing was a 'thing' again-- when did it come back? (or wait- it will come back now that they're selling the rulers again, because they'll be showing layouts that use them in order to sell them! ) I only bought the deckle-edged and wavy rulers, though, because I could never get the scallop or zigzag edge to tear properly, and I personally think they look kinda awful torn instead of cut.

I don't think I ever had tearing rulers but I still have my marker spritzer (still in the package!) and my perfect layers tools.

I had a tearing ruler years ago but got rid of it and wouldn't replace it. Never had an airbrush and wouldn't bother with one but I'm sure there are lots of people these new/old products would appeal to.

How are the straight tearing rulers different than using a regular, plastic, or wooden ruler?
I have no plans to paper tear, again, just curious. 🙂

There is nothing here that appeals to me again but then again I never had any of these items.

I have no plans to paper tear, oh, but KikiPea , don't you want to put a ragged-looking torn SCALLOP on your page?? or a border that's a torn, ragged-edge zig-zag?? Plus, *these* rulers are aqua!! this is just my personal anti-tearing prejudice showing; I don't mind a distressed edge now and then if the layout calls for it, but as a rule, not so much.

I still have an old airbrush and the perfect layers (which I loved at one time). Never got into tearing. Funny how they are bringing back the oldies.

Come to think of it, I think it was my mom's tool! I still lived at home! I think it would be fun to use it on masks (aka stencils) instead of using the gel paste stuff or whatever people use. I don't know much about messy scrap products.

I definitely had kids ones (I would still have been a little kid then) called Blow Pens or something like that? Perhaps less hygienic but effective and probably a darn sight cheaper than this will be!

I never had a tearing tool. It was way back in the day and I just did the tearing myself. I remember some companies made 'core' cardstock that was white inside so you got a different look. I think if tearing comes back into style I might do a few layouts.
I had the perfect layers tool but found it to be a big hassle to use. I could use a ruler with the same results. And the air brush I had was hard to control. It might just be me but I got a lot of ink blobs. I never did get the hang of it. Anyone remember when Lisa Bearnson was selling the electric version of this on HSN?

I never got the Perfect Layers but always kind of wanted it once I heard about it long after they came out, and I kind of want that square corner tool! My main paper cutter is sometimes just a hair off and I’m just obsessive enough that it drives me crazy when I can see that it’s off.

I feel so 80's, or is it 90's? I love tearing paper on my layouts. I just did one tonight. I better browse Pinterest and step up my game.

I still love torn edges and a slightly distressed (NOT BROWN) but sanded and worn look.

There's a reason I gave away all those things. I would never use them again. I do have the TH marker spritzer, and it's a real pain (literally) to use. By the time I get the ink out, my hand hurts so much I can't do anything else. I hated my Perfect Layers rulers, and I gave them away. I never did get a straight cut from them. Looks like I'll be saving some money.

Stampin' Up had (has?) a airbrush attachment-thingy for markers, too -- I think that's the one I still have.

I have lived my entire life without any of those tools and never missed them. Last night I was matting a photo and got it wrong twice. Now the layers rulers are on my list.

I think it's an indication that they are out of unique ideas. I could understand trying to revive a tool here and there (especially if it's use is already showing up in the industry and people are seeking out the older versions and having to pay a premium for them...like the Stampin' Up round tab punch, for instance) but an entire line of things that have already been done just comes off as a money grab. I don't like it...it's better than the washi punch (which was dumb AF) but I just don't see the value in an entire release of vintage tools without anything new or innovative to come out with them.

Use them on most layouts. I do, too. I misplaced a set recently and was thrilled to find that they were still being sold. Now if the original set turns up, I'll have two. Not a bad thing.

things that have already been done just comes off as a money grab. ^^^ not like they haven't done that already, though- like the (ridiculously overpriced, in my opinion) mint green typewriter, or the myriad of 'punch boards' and sewing tools that are ridiculously unnecessary (at least most of them, in my opinion).
