If not, what is a good brand for least amount of money? I don't want anything low waisted, they need to come up to the regular waistline.

No, they are still very popular. Gloria Vanderbilt has some at Kohls that I really love. They come in denim and two shades of black. Super comfy and soft. I think they are about $30-$35.

I bought some Simply Vera by Vera Wang ones at Kohl’s last year. I frequently wear them on my at-home days just for the pure comfort factor.

make sure you buy them in the women's section versus the juniors
that helps!
but honestly - my favorites come from Rue 21 and they are listed as midrise
they are $24 i think - usually bogo 1/2 off

JCrew has some called Pull-On Jeans. They come in black and a dark wash, and are $88.

I found some at walmart in the women's clothing. I like them because they are tight around my ankles. It is the only reason I like them. They sell out quickly and I had pair snatched from me.
I can not stand that extra flopflopflop at the bottom of women size pants. I may be fat but my ankles are not the size of my thighs. AND btw that extra floppy fabric at the bottom of the pants doesn't make a person look slimmer. It makes them look like a footstool with a ruffle. I despise bell bottoms and boot cut pants. If somebody tells you, you look great in them, they are lying. (Whew that was ranty. )

All that fabric doesn't do much for me and it doesn't balance me out, all that flapping around just makes me crazy, so all slim cut/skinny/jegging all the time for me. I love the Style &Co. jegging from Macy's. My favorite and I have um several pairs of them haha. I wear them to work with dressy tops or tunics, my setting is casual enough that jeans are ok every day.

I agree with the Simply Vera Wang at Kohl's. I have a black on black snake skin pattern, faux suede, plain black in various lengths, and regular denim. I really need to wear them more often come to think of it.

I love the bootcut with a slim-cut top, and I love the jeggings look with a blousy top. But then, I'm plus-sized and I have long, thin(ner) legs, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I went shopping in Walmart to buy some clothes for a friend who is in an abuse situation and had left home with only the clothes on her back. I ended up buying her three pairs of really cute jeggings (among other things), and two for me because they were so cute — and cheap. I think $13. Waist is high enough and they wash beautifully.

Well I'm going to go back and get the pair with the small plaid print that I was considering...
