I think this might be what that looks like:

Perhaps daddy or mommy is a pilot? I loved his sweet voice. I also loved his t-rex.
I remember meeting a first grader who read and somewhat comprehended at a 12th grade level. You just wonder how it all happened.

At that age my second son wanted to be either a tree shaker (at the cut-your-own Christmas tree farm, where they shake them for bugs & what-not before you take it home) or a grocery-store bagger.
He is a cyber-security computer geek.

He's very cute...but I hope no-one gets too carried away and lets him sit in the pilot's seat and pretend to fly the plane Don't laugh, you'd think no pilot would be that stupid right? but it happened on a Russian plane in 1992, one of the pilots had his 2 children on board and they let them sit in the pilot's seat and let them pretend to steer the plane, they had no actual control because the autopilot was on...but at some point one of them managed to disengage the autopilot and the plane went into a vertical dive and crashed, all 63 passengers & 12 crew were killed. link

Was no one else nervous watching that he was going to pull a lever or flap as he pointed out what needed to be done in an emergency. I'm thinking he's heading for the space program one day.

I never underestimate how stupid people can be (I count myself amongst them) on occasion. The kid is beyond cute, I assume, from reading the thread I know this clip is not for me. Kids in cockpits of planes? Not appropriate. Kids in Mom's purse where she keeps her gun? And so on and so forth.

I hope that plane was grounded and had no wings. I was a bit worried when his hand was over the controls as already mentioned. At age 5 years (and 11 months) my Son wanted to be a designer for Leggo, come to think of it he would still like that job aged 37.: :

They did let him fly a plane. A simulator. There's a youtube of it. He's just as adorable.
ps - I believe flight in the video was already on the ground.

Both my kids are on the spectrum (not saying this boy is) and both gather all the information they can about what they are interested in. For ds, construction vehicles, fire trucks, helicopters, and trains. Especially Thomas. For dd it is marine life, insects, and dinosaurs. She wants to be either a vet that finds a cure for dysautonomia in dogs (she has it herself) and a temp gauge that can go over their skin or a marine biologist that does research on the effects of climate change on sharks and whales and how it effects their breeding patterns.
Yea...
Ds wants to live on the island of Sodor LOL

Wow! I too was kind of nervous for him to be in there. My nephew is almost 6 and he wants to be a pirate! Before that, a firefighter. That is cool how he can retain that knowledge.

I wanted to be a garbage man because they only worked on Thursday.

You can clearly see buildings and equipment outside the cockpit windows so the plane is on the ground. How you're drawing a comparison between this and guns in mom's purse kind of blows my mind. Back in the olden days before 9/11, pilots used to invite small children into the cockpit prior to flights all the time.

Wow so smart! My cousin's boy didn't want to go to school. Just wanted to stay home and help grandpa farm, farmers don't need school. One day he was licking all around the edge of his ice cream cone to catch the drips and his mom says whatcha doing he replies "just doing the headland mom" Farm talk for perimeter. He was probably 4 at the time.

My DS saw his first Pixar movie at age 3. By 6 he was a Pixar expert. He had watched every Disney and Pixar movie we had multiple times, including all the extras and director's commentary. When he found out that people actually made those movies for a living, that's when he decided that is what he wanted to do.
DS is now a 17 year old junior and attends a boarding high school that specializes in the arts and he is learning all about media and films. He is already starting to look at colleges. His dream school is Cal Arts, but unless we win the lottery, he may have to go elsewhere.
I am somewhat envious that he found his passion at such a young age and is pursuing it with all he's got.

My son wanted to be a bus driver. It was the best part of the school day for him. He used to watch everything the driver did, and one day announced that he was all set to take over if something happened to Mrs. Anderson. He just couldn't figure out how to close the door once you left the bus.
He's now in college, and drives a bus around campus for a part-time job. Living his dream!

That kid is adorable. The plane was one the ground and the pilots were staying in their seats so I'm not to worried about him touching anything. I'd be more concerned if he was sitting in the seat within reach of many more controls.
My DS21 has wanted to be a chef (he called it a cooker) his entire life. When he was a baby we would go into a restaurant and if he started to cry the food would be bad, so we started to listen to him. There was one restaurant we were eat at a lot and by the age of one, the wait staff would take him from us so we could eat. He tended bar, waited on tables, got a tour of the kitchen, etc. He graduates from culinary school in May and last month was offered an internship through school to work in France. He leaves in June.
the other 3 also have a good idea of what they want to be, and it's been that way for a long time. DD11 obsesses about her future job and already has HS classes picked out and a college. She wants to apply now and I told her I don't think they will let you.
My kids are weird, but I'm thrilled they know what they want to do so early. I'm in my 40's and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I wanted to be a teacher or a lawyer and I'm neither.

The kids who go on Young Eagels flights are in the cockpit. They fly left seat with the pilot and have full access to the planes dual controls.

Back in the olden days before 9/11, pilots used to invite small children into the cockpit prior to flights all the time. The last week of August 2001, dd was 4 and visited the cockpit on one of our flights and was given a set of wings (pin). She did on a few other occasions, but that one stands out. The first week of September, she went to work with dh at the WTC.
