I am so Flippin annoyed by people who blatantly disregard the rules that the rest of us have to follow at work. Our dress code is quite casual but no jeans on Friday unless it's a special jeans day. But there are certain people that totally disregard this and wear jeans regardless so why aren't they made to follow the rules when the rest of us have to!! I'm so tempted to email HR . Sounds petty but I'm just tired of it

They are everywhere. Makes me feel like a tattle-tale if I say something, so I just shut up and try not to think about it. Doesn't always work lol

If they are not being reprimanded then apparently it isn't that big of a deal to corporate. Personally, I would be thrilled and start wearing them if allowed (as I am sitting at work right now in yoga pants and athletic shoes). If it wasn't impacting me personally, then I wouldn't worry about it and if I could also do it, why the hell not:)

I should wear jeans. And if I get in trouble, maybe I can scream discrimination--cause Im old & female-- and retire even earlier! That would be sweet!

I’ll validate you. Very annoying when supervisors ignore the rules for their favorites...

I feel ya! Blantant rule breakers are a pet peeves. And it's even more annoying when those that can do something look the other way about it or play favorites.

So is it just certain people who are getting away with it, or just that maybe that policy as gone by the wayside, but never fully rescinded. Honestly, if it were me, I'd wear jeans next Friday. If someone said something I'd be like "Well, Bob, Joe and Cindy wear them every Friday so I assumed the rule had been changed and not announced".
*Says the person that wear jeans to work every day to an office job! LOL

you know what i hate even more?? when we had casual friday and the rules say jeans okay but no holes, no track pants, no athletic shoes. the miserable accounting dept assistant showed up every friday in track pants, cotton turtleneck with a cat sweatshirt and running shoes. but because she is so miserable, no one wanted to address it with her so they CANCELLED casual friday.

You have always been a part of the heist. You're only mad now because you don't like your cut.

I completely validate you. I hate when the dress code isn't enforced. We're supposed to wear jackets in court all the time but lately one of the attorneys has decided a cardigan is just as good. And my boss refuses to do anything. My answer? come in here extra fabulous every day with a jacket around the office no matter what. These fools can go ahead and be sloppy if they want.

I'd be totally passive aggressive and email HR. "I must have missed the policy change regarding jeans on Friday being allowed now. Could you send me a copy of the new dress code?" Then when they respond that the policy hadn't changed, "Oh I just assumed that it did since multiple people are wearing jeans today."

Lol, that is exactly how I converted my workplace from jeans on Friday only to jeans every day. We aren't a company that needs employees dressing up. On the rare occasion that the owner wants us to, she lets us know. Anyway, don't be "that person". It's a pair of jeans, not the end of the world.

I must be old school but I work in a business office and dress appropriately. We don't have a dress code so I guess mine is self imposed. BUT, you go to our HQ and see people in flip flops, tennis shoes, jeans and sweatshirts.

That is how we went from business dress to business casual to casual Fridays and now pretty much casual everyday (includes jeans). The higher ups still dress somewhere in between business and business casual, but everyone else is pretty much business casual to casual.
