Hi Planner Experts,
I'm looking for a new planner to use. For the past two years I've used the PTI planner, but I don't like that it's in an odd size. What I do like about it is that the months/dates are already printed on the pages.
I don't do a lot of decorating, I use mostly the monthly pages, not the daily.
What do you love/hate about the planner you use currently?
Thanks! karinec

I have a designer planner and I got pages for the years printed and I am not really into decorating my planner any longer. I was really gungho for a while and now it's a journal rather than a planner.
Kikki K was the brand of planner that I had the most of. I have oodles of them and really they are pretty, but the quality for what they are is junk. The paint chips off or the rings get gaps in them. The company has a 20% off sale going on right now and I have a $10 off coupon code you can have if you decide to order from them. I will say they are *very* pretty. The paper quality the include is garbage and the date isn't printed on them either so you will have to get inserts made somewhere or print your own. I tried printing them myself and I hated cutting them out. It was just easier and cheaper to pay someone to do the work for me. (It is way more expensive to get them printed and cut but I am not wasting my money on software, ink and paper that I will never print).
That's my experience.

The Get To Work Book is a very popular option and has dates on it already. I ordered the A5 version and while I like the format of the book itself, I would recommend going with the actual planner, not the A5 inserts, because the space to write in it is really small! Of course that's what happens when you shrink something down but my writing is very big so if I had to choose again, I'd pick the actual planner since it's larger.

I have been an inkWELL fan for years. The paper is like buttuh! Fine point sharpie and highlighter proof too 👍🏻. I prefer a weekly layout as a list maker who doesn't have a lot of set appointments/obligations. I briefly tried having fun with my planner using stamps, washi, etc. But after about 6 months, I gave up on making it cute. I really am a practical planner user. Their planners have a lot of built in goal setting and project planning features which I don't utilize to their full potential. But I mention it because a.) the monthly mission board page is pretty and b.) it can be repurposed as a nice memory keeping page. You can get them through Office Max/Office Depot now and use their coupon codes which is nice (but don't order online- they will literally ship it in a plastic mailer with no other packaging). And I did notice that they have a monthly version that doesn't appear to be available elsewhere.

I don't decorate either but I do love planners. I have a few Kikki K's that have held up okay for me...they are better quality than a lot of the others I have found out there. For the price point, howerever, you may as well spring for the Filofax brand (great leather but very thin paper so bleed-through with even ballpoint pens). This year, I used a Webster's Pages TN with dated monthly and weekly inserts from Paper Penguin (Etsy) and loved the quality. If you can tolerate undated pages, the Michael's Recollections brand actually has a very good quality (thick and smooth) planner insert size for A5 and the personal size. I know a girl who Loves her Happy Planner. I have seen a few interesting ones at jetpens.com and Target has new TN planners for 2018. I think you have decide how much space you need first, and go from there, bc almost everything you want can be found on Etsy or elsewhere. Once you decide what you want, we can offer up more suggestions and, most likely, where/how to get it for a discount if possible. I have saved/spent so much since I joined this forum bc these ladies are so great at sharing info about sales.

I used the get to work book for years and liked it. Now I keep a bullet journal and I love it! Have you looked into that?

Maybe not what you're looking for, but I've been buying an 8.5x11 wire bound Blue Sky planner each year for maybe the last 10 years for about $12. I like that the spaces to write are big enough to really be useful to me. I don't like that the only way to attach additional pages is to staple them to an already attached unused page, or else to bend the tines of the binding to add a pocket or something that way. I do both when I'm setting it up for the year, and it's not a hardship for me.

I use a MAMBI Happy Planner and I love it. I just finished adding a few things upcoming for this month in mine. It's so cute without doing any extra decorating, so I just add a few strips of Washi tape for fun. I prefer it over the Erin Condren I used last year, so I will purchase another Happy Planner for 2019.
P.S. The dates are printed and it's very user friendly with a good amount of space to write.

I love the Get to Work Book. I don't decorate, but can if I wanted. What I love it for is all the room to plan out projects and goals. I use one at home and one at work. I love that the pages are plain black, white and gray. No eye distraction. I can see what I've planned and tasks completed very easily, which is important at work. I planned a major office overhaul for work in it a couple of years ago. Now, we are moving our office, and I'm planning and tracking everything involved with that move. It is nice to have all that handy without using separate notebooks. In my GTWB at home, I plan out entire gardening seasons, home remodeling projects, crafting and scrapbooking projects. I keep lists of books I've read and want to read. My decorating, if any, is the type you would use in a bullet journal.
