No, no recliner. They are ugly and I won't have one in my living room. I REALLY hate the way the standard recliner looks. I have a recliner but you can't tell it's a recliner, it looks like a club chair. We have a long skinny table behind the couch with our laptops on it and we both sit there while watching tv or on the couch cuddling.

No recliner in our house. DH sits on couch or chair. If he had back problems I would go on the hunt for whatever would help with the back problem.

Our family room has a swivel recliner and a sectional sofa with chaise lounge at one end. My husband always sits in the recliner, but rarely reclines it. I used to always sit on the chaise end of the sectional but I have been varying it a lot lately. Sometimes I lie down on the long section and sometimes I sit in different places. Last night I was using the chaise end again.

I bought a fake leather waswood fake stickley recliner from Fred Meyer.
It seems to work nicely for my husband and his very bad back.

"Archie. Archie. You're home. I'll get your beer." I immediately thought of Archie's chair. Dh and I both have recliners. Cats like to sit on human who sit on recliners.

I don't understand the dislike of recliners. They are comfortable I think the problem some people have is that they don’t match the decorating aesthetic they’re looking for and it can be hard to make a typical recliner “go” with more traditional furniture styles.

We have two recliners in the man area. We also have long couch that matches. My husband sits in the one that is perfect for lighting, air flow, and television viewing (think Sheldon BBT). He has a table on either side of him for his work space. He grades and studies there almost every night. If I sit in that chair, my boys always mention it is dad's chair even though my husband declared when we got the chairs that no one could claim them. When I sit in "his" chair, he has some great facial expressions (think Sheldon BBT). We have a living room that is beautiful with gorgeous furniture and no one ever sits in there except for holidays and possibly Sundays. I grew up with recliners in the family room, so the practicality vs esthetics debate isn't an issue.

DH sits in his recliner when it's available (when one of our dogs isn't on it). Otherwise he's sitting on the sectional next to me to watch tv, or he's at the kitchen table on his laptop online gaming.

He has a Flexsteel recliner that he's loved for 6 years. We'll be buying new furniture and he'll get a new one when we do.

Dh had a recliner until we moved and g It a reclining couch. Now he sits on one end and I sit on the other. I want one of those I think. We really do a whole new set this one has been through two moves since we've been here. I was honestly hoping his chair wouldn't make it through the last move lol! We looked at a couple last year but Dh wasn't sold on the style. He's not sure about the reclining couches. I sit on the end of our couch now.

We have a couch with a chaise and a padded ottoman. I usually sit on the chaise side and he sits near me and puts his feet on the ottoman.

Our family room furniture all reclines. He sits on "his" end of the couch with his feet up. He only actually reclines the back for a nap. Patter I like the loveseat, too. But, all the new reclining loveseats seem to have a console/cup holder in the middle. I HATE it. It's ugly. Oh man, we need a new set. I sure hope there aren’t cup holders! I need a regular loveseat and couch please.

No recliners here... is it a generational thing? The only people I know with recliners are my parents and grandma.

He sits on the left side of the couch, which is an L-shaped sectional, and I sit on the other end with my feel on his lap. The dog and the cat sit in between us.

He sits on the sofa or sometimes at the dining room table (our dining room and living room are all together). When we had a a recliner he never used it.

Our family room has a sectional and a recliner. They are not a matched set. I was really resistant to getting a recliner and searched high and low to find one that passed the "it's not a big old ugly eyesore" test.
DH usually sits in his recliner. If moves to the sectional, he is planning to fall asleep watching TV. He only sits on the sectional if we have people over and someone snagged the recliner.

I gave into him wanting a recliner and he gives me the rest of the house, no complaining about decor. Its a compromise. SaveSave

We don't have a recliner. He sits on the couch, in the chair, or on the floor in front of the fireplace.

Yes, DH has a recliner that is only for him. He has severe health issues, including serious back issues. It took him five years to find a recliner that worked perfectly, and that was only because his "perfect" recliner that he had for ten years was literally falling apart and the company that made it was no longer in business. He usually gets out of bed around 3 or 4 a.m. on weekends and climbs into his chair because he can't take lying in bed any longer. Once he finally found this chair, we ordered a second one. It's in the family room downstairs. He never sits in it, but I consider it his backup for when the upstairs one craps out. ETA: We have a very tiny upstairs living room. We only have three recliners, two bookshelves, and the TV stand in here. It's all that will fit. The recliners don't even match and I don't care. My house is for my comfort.

We have a big modular couch with a chaise on one side. Whoever is there first usually sits on the chaise, but not always. I just went into the lounge room and checked where DSO was sitting - he was in the corner seat. No, no recliner here. He sits to my right on the sofa so I can put my feet in his lap and he massages them while we watch tv My DSO would probably punch me in the nose if I put my feet on his lap, and he sure a hell wouldn't massage them! (He HATES feet, anybody's feet, with a passion.)

My DH has one in the den. I highly recommend you get real leather. His first one was bonded leather. What a mess. He also has back issues and can't ly flat so he spends a lot of time in the chair (Lazy Boy designed for tall people).
