I love your meme. I liked exercise for a couple of years but not so much lately. I’ve been forcing myself to walk a mile or so a couple times on the weekend and I really don’t enjoy it at all but I know I have to do it. We’re having pot roast with carrots, potatoes and green beans today. There will be lots of gravy as well. I’m thinking about baking something today but I probably shouldn’t. . I made an apple pie and bought vanilla bean ice cream to have with it. I’m my own worst enemy with diet self-sabotage.

Glad you're feeling better. I cannot see your meme. WAH! Exercise is one of those things that feels good once you do it, but feels like a chore before you do it. How about buying a pair of fun shoes to go w/those sneakers just to cheer yourself up? We have Tuscan bean stew and leftover pizza from last night. So, dh can choose. Ds will be at work. Yesterday mil chose to give up her license. Well, she can drive through Friday. We got her an ID card and smart phone and she'll be a Lyft passenger now. It was a sad day for her and I felt like a big fat meanie, but at 89 she's starting to have memory issues and she's slowing way down. It's the responsible thing to do, but I felt sad for her, because I knew she was sad. newlywoods03 , I also have in-loves. Anyway, I'm exhausted today and very glad that we have leftovers. Have a fun and enjoyable Saturday. ETA: Saw your meme leannec. DITTO!

Hi everyone! Sorry I’ve been MIA for a bit - I moved to the Reha spa a week ago and the Internet here in the hills of Bavaria is pretty sketchy. I am just back from dinner . Tonight was potato soup with wiener sausages. The main meal here is at lunch - today was veggie soup, roast chicken and vegetables then ice cream for dessert. The food is pretty good overall. At lunch we get soup - different every day - a choice of 3 mains and dessert or fruit. Dinner is soup - different from the lunch one - and again a choice of 3 mains. We can also buy a glass of wine or beer with dinner. Most days I don’t, but I sometimes go to the cafe/bar later for a glass. My therapy is going well. Week one was mainly focused on lymph drainage to reduce the swelling and getting my knee to bend and my balance back. I have no more swelling and can manage 70^ on the leg bending machine. Next week is further work on the bending and moving on to walking more easily. Best of all, my pain levels are down to almost nothing. I haven’t needed any pain meds at all today, which I think is almost miraculous. Not sure when I’ll get to check in again, but thinking of you all.

I am making Jamie Oliver's paella for dinner tonight as we are celebrating DS' birthday today. He said he didn't want us to do anything and I pointed it out to him that wasn't the way we did things in our family. Birthdays are always celebrated. End of story. In it will be rice, saffron, prawns, mussels, bone in and skin on chicken thighs, clams and chorizo (I might also put in frozen peas depending if I remember or not). I am not sure who is going shopping for ingredients at this point but it could very well be me. So far it hasn't been vetoed and he suggested it so I think that's the plan for now. We bought a paella pan from Amazon a year ago and haven't used it yet so I am kind of excited about bringing it out to use. sueg I am glad your are progressing nicely. I hope they are taking good care of you. leannec I have 10 pairs of running shoes and honestly I hate them all. They all hurt my feet now and I am not buying more. I also hate exercise. A lot. I have to get over that soon. Happy Saturday, everyone!!!

I don't know. There's still some pizza left but I'll probably kill that off before dinner time. Maybe I'll make chicken soup with veggies. Yum. sueg, good to hear from you and all your news. leannec, I totally love (and agree with) your meme.

I think DS and I would enjoy that a lot. I can ask paigepea but you are a regular in the dinner thread and thought you might know. I am ready for some soup.

sueg, really good to hear from you and it sounds as if things are progressing well. It's a cool and damp day here, perfect for watching football and being lazy. I made a Creamy Chicken and Rice soup and bought some crusty sourdough rolls as a side. I can probably be talked into making chocolate chip cookies later

Great update, sueg. leannec: LOVE the meme! I'm exhausted, but this is possibly the best Jungle Book ever! And that makes all the hard work worth it! Two shows today, so no time for dinner (the kids got hot dogs and pizza), and now I'm sitting on the couch eating chocolate. There will be dinner tomorrow.....I think.

KelleeM, I'd gladly join you in a slice of that yummy looking pie. sueg, glad that you're pain free and in a nice facility. Hope we can see more of you around here. miominmio, theater is fun, but so much work. You'll need lots of chocolate and a nap when this is over. Delta Dawn, Happy Birthday to your ds.

Ds is home for the weekend and has requested that we go to the Hibachi restaurant that we like. It's good and will likely give us enough leftovers for tomorrow.

I'm not sure what is for dinner, but the easiest will be to grill chicken breasts so it will probably be lemon garlic chicken and a salad. Great to hear you update sueg, especially on getting to pain free! scrapmaven, losing their license is a really hard transition for our parents. I have a girlfriend whose mom completely embraced Uber and rarely wanted/needed a ride anywhere after she got into the swing of using it. On the flip side, one of our Uber drivers in Palm Springs last year was an 80 year old. She was a hoot and drove to get out of the house & meet people, but only drove during the day. KelleeM, DH just asked if I wanted to go to Julian tomorrow for apple pie. I think I'd rather have a slice of yours.

I just buy the box of Manischevitz (sp!!) matzoh ball mix and do it their way, only I add a little chopped fresh parsley, if I have some. Then I use my own homemade chicken stock or the kind in a box or a combination of the two, and I add chicken meat and fresh veggies to make it a complete meal. Usually carrots and spinach, but could be anything. My mom and grandmothers always served it with just the broth and matzoh balls, as a first course.

Going Pot luck Italian night at a friends and watching horror movies. I made a big batch of sangria. Used 2 magnums of wine. Hopefully it’s enough for us. Also made an lemon cream cake. The host is making mushroom ravioli and spaghetti with three sauce choices. Typing that made me realize how hungry I am!

I’ll make the matzoh balls with the mix but NOT the soup! Theirs is way too salty. Though matzoh balls from scratch aren’t that hard I like skipping the grinding up the matzoh step which makes a mess

Well the crew and I all got home too late last night for the scalloped potatoes with ham so that's what we had tonight. Ended with cupcakes for the birthday boy and pumpkin muffins. DS birthday is on Monday and we celebrated today. We also carved pumpkins.
