Last week I had a right frontal lobotomy to treat uncontrollable epilepsy. I am home now but holy shit am I in a shit ton of pain. I look horrendous with 45 stables on that side of my head! I was sent home with pain meds but truly all they do is mess with my tummy & in turn I am constipated & have to take something for that & also something for the constant nausea. It's a viscous circle.

I'm sorry you're suffering so much, but hope the surgery has been successful. Are there any other painkillers you could try? Is weed an option?

That sounds horrible, any chance you can get in touch with the MD and they can tweak your meds. Pretty sure they can give you something at least for the nausea.

Gosh, I'm sorry you're having such pain. I hope you can contact your doc/consultant and get some different mess and get some relief. Has it helped your seizures or is it early days to tell?
I wish you a speedy recovery.

So sorry to hear you're in so much pain. I was on pain meds after my knee op that also gave me constipation - and I believe it's a common side effect for opioids. Make sure you're drinking enough water. Can you try something like prunes/prune juice to help lessen the effect?
Hope you feel better soon!

I'm so sorry you needed to have surgery. I hope your pain improves quickly.
Can you take some over the counter Tylenol to take away a little of the pain?

Have you contacted your neuro surgeon to see if there's a different med you can try? Have the seizures at least stopped? I'm wishing you a great outcome.

When I recently had surgery the doctor prescribed pain pills and also said I should take Colace for as long as I was on them (to help with the possible constipation).

I'm sorry you are experiencing so much pain. I can't even imagine it. I just looked up temporal lobectomy, and the procedure seems to have a very high rate of success. I hope all this pain will be well worth it and you will be seizure free going forward.

Thank you to all who replied & gave love & advice!! I am taking a stool softener but I'm still having issues. My poor tummy is just so bound up that it hurts.
I also came home with an ear infection! What a bonus! I have left messages with the neurosurgeon but have not heard back yet, that was yesterday!
I have no faith in pain meds. I don't respond well to them & as a result this is what I get. I'd never be a druggie!!!
Hopefully in a few more days I'll feel better & my tummy will be feeling closer to normal. I am taking Linzess now but damn, I've gotten tummy cramps that hurt like I'm in labor! It's a no win. Stay constipated or take Linzess & have tummy cramps!!!!

I’m so sorry your in so much pain.
I also have problems with pain meds I vomited very violently the two times I was given them. Injuring myself more. I won’t take them.
I used a TENs unit for painbut I’m guessing that won’t work on your head.
I hope you heal soon and can have relief from your suffering.

You poor pumpkin! If it isn't bad enough to have all you had, you now have an ear infection. I'm sorry about all the pain you're in. I hope it's very temporary and you'll start feeling better AND seizure-free very soon!

Cold Compresses on your head.
Miralax for your constipation. A hot water bottle for your tummy.
Eat small meals, no lettuce and not a lot high fiber. That can bind you even more.
Lavender or hops sachets can be very soothing for headaches.
I hope you feel better soon!
