UPDATE:
The shirts were delivered via UPS around 6:10 on Halloween, about 5 minutes after DD left for the costume party. The party was in our neighborhood so she and a friend walked over and she changed into her shirt and went back to the party, no big deal. The shirts got here - yay!
This morning though, I was looking at my Amazon orders, tracking another package (I told y'all, I order from Amazon a lot) and noticed that they still don't show that the Halloween shirts were delivered. Now it says "Expected by Nov 2" with a note in smaller print: "We’re sorry your package is late. If it hasn’t arrived by Friday, Nov 3, please come back for more options".
Now I'm going to keep checking back, wondering when they will ever update that the package was delivered!

ORIGINAL POST:
This is the first year our daughters (12 and 15) are not doing Halloween costumes. 12yo had planned to do a costume with a friend (Sully and Mike from Monsters Inc) but the friend changed her mind so DD decided to just not do a costume. She is going to a costume party at a friend's house so we found a shirt on amazon that just says "Halloween Costume" on it for her to wear, which is kind of perfect for her personality. The 15yo is on the spectrum and was very disappointed that we decided that this would be a good year for her to start handing out candy with us and not buy her a costume. We found a Halloween shirt for her on amazon as well that she was super excited about.
I ordered their shirts as well as shirts for DH and I from amazon last Wednesday, October 25th. All four shirts were sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC, were prime items and said they were available for free two day shipping. But once I checked out I saw that they would be delivered by 8 p.m. on October 31st. That's not two day shipping in my mind but ok, I decided to remain optimistic since our amazon deliveries to the house are always there by the time the girls get home from school.
This morning, October 31st, I received an update that the items will be delivered by 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1st. Really amazon?
I received the update on the way to work after dropping the kids off at school, so no opportunity to come up with a quick backup plan with them. I am checking the younger one out of school for a dr appt this afternoon and we won't have time to run anywhere to grab anything before time for her to be at the costume party she's going to.
I'm trying to decide if I should hold onto the shirts for next year when they come or return them for a refund. I want to send a complaint email to amazon but can't find any info about doing so.
No big deal in the big scheme of things, the girls will get over it, but I wish I'd known that two day shipping didn't really mean two day shipping last weekend, I would've done something different.

Anne-Marie To contact Amazon, in the search box at the top of the home page, instead of entering what you want to buy, enter "Contact Amazon". Your options will appear.

Thank you Lynn - I am chatting with a rep right now. Not impressed so far but I am trying.

I've gotten updates like that saying delivery would be a week out, but the items still showed up on my door step the next day. That's happened a few times actually. I hope you get it resolved and so sorry your girls will be disappointed.

Again, not a huge deal in the big scheme, but a little frustrating. Just goes to show how spoiled I am by the usual amazon speeds. The customer service agent is trying to tell me "weather delays" but the package shows it has been at the carrier facility 10 miles from my house since Sunday afternoon.

The last time mine changed, it changed back several hours later. I sometimes wonder if the carrier changes things, and Amazon straightens it out.

I'm wondering that too. The rep is certain I will have them by the end of the day. And this time I didn't even feel like I waited until the last minute!

I think in their mind, if it gets there within two days of when they actually ship it, that’s good enough to qualify. I ordered four pairs of sweatpants a few weeks ago on Prime, three for DD and one for me. Two of them took about four days, one took over a week, and one that was originally slated to come Nov 1st changed to Oct 30th and is now back to Nov 1st all within the course of a week. Pretty much the only things I count on actually showing up within two days of ordering are the things that are showing as in stock, sold and shipped by Amazon directly. Anything sold from third parties is all over the place.

I've encountered the same issue with them recently. I've been ordering a lot because of birthdays and have had that issue with at least four deliveries. I've had to cancel one order because the delivery date got switched three times!

I ordered one of those shirts. I'm pretty sure they print them after they are ordered, so the prime is 2 day shipping. I ordered mine on Tuesday the 24th and it said I should have it by Friday. Which was great because I needed it for a Saturday morning party. Friday morning I got an update saying the delivery was delayed and it wouldn't arrive until Saturday by 8pm. A few hours later I got a notice that it was delivered. Totally had me freaking out for nothing.
My shirt said I don't do costumes and was perfect for my 12 year old who stopped doing costumes in 4th grade.

I order from amazon a LOT (or what I consider to be a lot, anywhere from 2 - 4 times a week) since I have Prime. They're always my first thought if I'm looking for ANYTHING.

The shirt for mine is the one that is grey and says "Halloween Costume" on it in orange.

I find that it varies based on the seller, which warehouse it originates from and which carrier it ends up with. We have a warehouse not far from here and if it comes from there it's usually pretty quick, but God help you if they turn it over to the post office for delivery. [Yes, FedEx Surepost, I'm giving you the stink eye.]

We've recently had that problem with prime also. DH called them and read them the riot act. They said it meant "2 days after they are shipped." He asked them if they waited a year to ship them, and it got here in a year and 2 days then it was ok? Apparently so. The rep DID add a month to our prime membership for the inconvenience. The funny thing is, the item he ordered still said 2 day delivery-(would be delivered before (date) and that date was sooner than the one we ordered was going to be delivered! So they KNOW things are going to be late, but don't do anything about it.

I live in an area that has community boxes so the post office says they delivered it but sometimes they give the key to the wrong address and you have to hope someone is going to notice/check their mail quickly. Plus the box isn't at the end of our street so when I get a notice at 6 pm not in the mood to get in the car and go get it. Deliver it to my door, that is what I am paying for Amazon!! I wish there was a way to have an option to avoid USPS for delivery.

I ordered a bunch of Halloween balloons for a school event. They were supposed to arrive by the day of the event. Unfortunately they arrived the morning after. Slightly bummed, but my own fault for ordering at the last minute. I wouldn’t dream of complaining to Amazon. I’ll use them next year instead.
