I'm reading a book and came across a phrase that made me go Hmmmm. If puzzles me that the author used this comparison. It doesn't ring true for me. How about you?
This is what he said, "For me, it was like old times. I was doing what I had done so many times before. I felt comfortable, like taking a nap in an unmade bed."

It does for me. Some days when my husband is sleeping late he forgets to make the bed. When I walk by it all rumpled I always think how warm and comfy it must be. Especially in the winter time!!

My brother on the other hand has the worst time falling to sleep in a made bed. His bed probably has not been made in 30 years. (Yes he changes the sheets and washes the bedding.)

I don't get it either. When you take a nap it's in always in an unmade bed because you have to pull the covers back. Why say unmade? That's a given.

I cannot sleep in made bed. It is too tight and confining. I like the sheets and blankets loose and not tucked in.
I never make my bed. I just pull my comforter loosely over it all. It usually looks lumpy, but I don't care.

My husband takes naps on top of the bed (no covers), crosses his arms and ankles, sleeps for 15 minutes and pops up fresh as a daisy. It drives me insane. I’m with you that you have to be under covers. Not for everyone I guess!

A nap implies mide of the day. I wouldn't get into my bed in clothes. I would nap on top of a made bed.

Nap? What's a nap? I think the cocktail of medicine I am on make it so that I can't nap to save my life. Good news is I sleep hard at night.

I nap on top of my made bed. Cannot even fathom napping in an unmade bed. Ick.

When I'm in bed for the night, I like to burrow in under lots of covers. For naps, though, I prefer a made bed and I just cover up with a throw. Otherwise, it feels like I'm sick in bed or something.

No no no no just no.
A nap is on top of the made bed. That way I get to use the comfy throw I so artfully fluff over the footboard every day. Then I feel better about it not just being there for show. =).

I'm a messy sleeper - blankets get twisted, pillows are thrown - but I'm always perfectly covered (can't say the same for my husband). Trying to get back into my unmade bed with any measure of comfort would be next to impossible. A foot would be hanging out, my back would be exposed. If my bed were unmade, I would have to make it first before crawling back under the covers for a nap.

I nap on a made bed because if I were to get under the covers for a nap, I'd be way too comfy and would never get up.
But I'm also relatively new to the whole "making bed" thing. (and it's only because I've had so many workers in my house, many in my bedroom/master bathroom, that I have to have the bed made. I've found that it's not hard to make it look nice every day and I'm kind of digging my bed/bedroom looking nice.
In the past, I was always of the frame of mind "you're going to get in and mess it up...why make it? My bed used to get made once a week...on clean sheet day. I didn't force my kids to make their beds either.

I sleep on top of the made bed and put an afghan over me LOL. The only time I go under the covers is when I'm sick. I have no idea why.

When I lay down for a nap, it is always on top of the comforter, with a throw size blanket over me.

I almost never make the bed except once a week when I wash the bedding. It isn't all over the place when I get up, I just turn the corner down and the bedding is not terribly askew in the morning. Napping either involves the cozy throw from the bench or just putting the covers over me, except when it involves just passing out on the sofa.
Either way however, it isn't a phrase that evokes a good or bad feeling in me.

Sometimes it's cozier to sleep on top of it than under it. I've often thought of getting another and sleeping between them both, especially in the winter.

This author doesn’t make their bed. Sometimes I don’t make my bed until it is time to get in it, usually on clean sheet day. Or when I’m up at 4:30 am and out the door before my husband is awake.

I don't really make the bed. Often, I just pull up the covers. Lots of times though, that doesn't even happen. I don't take a lot of naps, but when I do I am really really tired and I just flop down on top of the bed (made or unmade), in whatever clothes I happen to be wearing, and fall asleep. I don't need to put any covers or blanket on me.

Me neither. My grandma always said sleep in unmade bed and you’ll get nightmares. Our bed may not be made when we leave for work (I leave first ) but it is made before we get in it, and I nap on top covers with just a throw unless I’m napping off a migraine. Then it’s basically going to bed until pain is gone, which is hours.

I don't make the bed & we only use a bottom sheet not a top one. I only use a blanket when it's cold like really cold. My bed looks bare 99% of the time.
I hate stuff touching me at night.

I hate naps in an unmade bed. My favorite sleep is the one where you've just changed the sheets and the bed is freshly made.

There is no way I could sleep in clothes on top of a made up bed. Give me rumpled sheets and blankets every time.
