My DS almost 4 years old made a new friend on the playground:
DS “do you speak Polish or English?” (We now live in the UAE) New friend “English”
A little later: New friend “What country are you from?” DS “I’m from India” (We’re American, he was born in India)

That's really cute And it really shows that you are raising a true citizen of the world!
When my kids were preschoolers, we lived in Seoul. We were vacationing in Beijing and struck up a conversation with a family seated next to us at an acrobatic show. We asked where they were from and they said Seoul. My blonde kids were so excited and said, "We are from Seoul, too!" The other family was very confused, as we are obviously Americans.
We moved back to the states--Las Vegas-- and DS was in 1st grade. They were studying the Chinese New Year and DS came home so confused. "Mom, not one other kid in my class has been to China." Living in S. Korea, so many of our friends vacationed in China. DS also couldn't understand why we couldn't take a taxi everywhere!

Ah bless him and all the other lovely stories on this thread. Isn't it great when we listen to all the innocence of childhood.

If we/they would leave the kids alone, they could solve the world problems!
Kids are friendly to every one until they are told or shown no.....................

We lived in the Netherlands when dd was 4. After several months we went on a vacation to the Canary Islands. The people were very kind and frequently spoke to her in Spanish to which she would reply, "I'm sorry, but I don't speak Dutch!" 😂

This happened to a friend of mine whose son was born in Japan. He told everyone for years that he was Japanese. He could not be more white.
