Playing devil's advocate here...but I do the Trim Healthy Mama eating plan. It is what has worked for me. I feel better when I eat that way. I *can* eat carbs, potatoes, sugar, but prefer not to as one bite and I'm days trying to get back on target with healthy eating. LOL . Would I make a fuss? No. Eat what I'm served? I really try hard to, but I have people trying to feed me all the time which means my healthy eating would go out the window most days. It sounds like you got some good suggestions here!

I guess I make a point of doing so because I have my own food preferences and *really* appreciate it when people accommodate them (though I never ask them to - but family and friends know because I've eaten this way for years). I host Thanksgiving most years. We have one vegan, one vegetarian, two paleo, one who can't eat most greens, cabbages or anything with a lot of seeds, and one who can't eat garlic/onions/shallots or legumes or dairy. It takes planning and some creativity but I make it work so everyone has a full meal and no one feels like they're getting the shaft because of their diet, whether it's a choice or medical need. You're younger than I am. And nicer. And more patient. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) <3 <3

Portobello mushroom pizza bar. Or provide personal crusts for anyone who isn’t low carb. I just bought a cauliflower crust at TJ's and it was good. so you could make pizza for all.

if strict Keto onions should be eaten sparingly. Probably ok for Low Carb
I eat Keto and I don't expect anyone to cook just for me. I will eat around what I can or bring a dish I can eat.

It’s cold here, so i would make lentil soup (low carb and vegetarian), a green salad (low carb and vegetarian), some type of lasagne and roasted veggies (bak choy, onions, green beans, tomatoes).
I prefer to eat vegetarian or fish and just skip meat\ chicken portions when I’m out for dinner if the host didn’t ask in advance. It really is not a big deal. Sometimes I’ll take a tiny piece of chicken to be polite but that was when I was younger - i do that less now.
i also prefer to limit my carbs, but when I’m at a friends for dinner I’ll watch how i eat all day and prepare myself to take small portions of carbs (rice or noodles) at dinner. I wouldn’t put a full portion of pasta on my plate. I’d fill up on salad or veggies unless they’re all root veggies, then i hope there are raw cut veggies somewhere. But i don’t expect anyone to do do exactly what i need as I’m never the only guest. If I’m starving there is always food at home when i get there.

So many good ideas! Thanks, peas! How about a low carb dessert? LOL I guess, no pie, cake or cookies are low carb, right? No such thing as low-carb dessert! If they're anti-root vegetables, they're probably against fruit, too.

I like the taco bar/salad option or eggplant parmigiana.

You peas are THE BEST!! I thought I'd share my menu with you in case you are looking for some new low carb or veggie recipes. I made garlic parm spaghetti squash, buttery green beans with mushrooms added and marinated grilled chicken. For dessert I made mini individual chocolate mousse cups with unsweetened whipped cream & Miss-no-fruit-no-root-vegetables devoured it, lol. I think low carb is harder to deal with than vegetarian. I ONLY want carbs. For snacks, my low carb guest only eats pork rinds, lol. Is that really healthier than carrot sticks?

That spaghetti squash looks so good -- I'm totally making that. Your dinner sounds delicious! I'm glad everyone had a good time, that's really the point of sharing a meal with friends.

For snacks, my low carb guest only eats pork rinds, lol. Is that really healthier than carrot sticks? I don't know about carrot sticks, but I know they have less calories than regular potato chips and they pack a protein punch, if she is low carb... and she is only eating a serving size...they aren't all that bad (for the low carb program)
