I am going to a three night, overnight crop for the first time this weekend. It is just a group of friends who have gotten together for years and this year I was invited. Many of these woman have known each other since college. I moved to the area three years ago and became friendly with one of the members. Met two others last month and was happy to receive the invitation. Any suggestions as what to bring? Anything "special" I could bring to thank this group for opening up and letting me join? I completed the group list for snacks and such-but I was just thinking of something more. Maybe scrapping related to bring and share. Looking for some ideas. Thank you!

The group I scrap with loves it when I prep a little make n take project for them to do when they need a mojo boost or get stuck and want to shift gears for a bit. It doesn’t have to be anything earth shattering, maybe a predesigned card, a fun holiday favor or ornament. You could also put together a cute little packaged treat for them themed for the season and put it at each person’s table spot. My friends love stuff like that. I would make these little Hershey’s nugget boxes and decorate them with a fun little paper piecing on the front, and wrap the nuggets inside with standard mailing labels that I decorated to match, either with digital scrapbooking clip art or rubber stamps.

I went with a new group a few months ago and one of the people who put it together was a CTMH rep. She put small bags of candy on each persons spot, had a few gifts that you could win by playing "bingo" (there were different scrap related items to check off on the card, like using washi tape, a certain number of photos, using four different patterned papers, etc). She also had some challenge layouts that she posted for everyone to scraplift and a one hour challenge (complete the page in an hour) as well as some sample cards and layout make and takes (we did pay for these). Those were all fun but just bringing something small for each person is thoughtful.

those are some good ideas for things to take as a 'thank you' to the other croppers; I don't have any other ideas for that. But, wanted to say if you're not sure what the crop area is going to be like, a sweater is usually a GOOD idea, and a small light for your workspace, just in case the lighting is crappy.
enjoy yourself!!

Is it at a retreat center or someone’s house? If it’s somewhere that you are making your own meals my suggestion is to be helpful. Clear the dishes, load the dishwasher, wipe down counters, strip the bed at the end of the weekend... I have retreats and a surefire way to be invited back is to be helpful. Don’t monopolize the conversation or be a complainer.

Are you sharing bedrooms? If so, ear plugs are very helpful.
I always bring an extra blanket, an extension cord, and a small fan.

How fun to be invited to join their group! You could put together a little gift bag with chocolate, Crystal light powder drink mix packet, trail mix, post it notes, mechanical pencil, chapstick, etc.

We loved it. I miss her so much!

I agree, definitely add a sweater/jacket and a small light for your area. I attend a 3 day crop every July and those 2 items are always needed. One of those memory foam seat cushions will help too. Typically the seating is not the best at most crops. I also try to pack some healthy snacks. By Day 2, I'm usually sick of candy and chips which are at most crops. A tray of fresh veggie sticks and some hummus is always welcomed by my crop mates! An insulated water bottle or cup with a closeable lid is handy. The other thing I do is pack a small needlework project. If I get stuck creatively, then I can change gears for a bit. It usually helps.

Great ideas folks-keep them coming. This is a small gathering- I think just 7 women and will be held at a retreat center in Virginia. Not a formal thing, just friends who rent a community space. Meals are included, but we bring our own snacks and snacks to share. I ran out to Michaels during lunch and got a new Cricut mat and some Cricut sized paper since one person mentioned they would be bringing theirs. Figured I would leave that with them and people could use it. Took a look around at some ideas and plan to go back tomorrow when I have more time to pick up a few things to bring and share. I admit, I am worried about the chair. I tend to develop neck pain if I sit in a bad chair for any length of time. Will bring a pillow to sit on and try to remember to get up often. They did mention to bring an extra pillow and warm blanket since its going to be chilly this weekend. What about a little trash can? For under the table-maybe even just a stand up paper bag?

What about a little trash can? For under the table-maybe even just a stand up paper bag? if you have packing tape, what we usually do at our crops is tape a plastic grocery bag to the edge of the table (tape thru one of the handles) right at the edge of your workspace. That way it's right there. Or you could use a paper grocery bag, if you have one (I still get them sometimes at the store just to use for trash / recyclables in my craft room). you're really nice to get paper and a mat for everyone to use with the Cricut! I find that crafters are a nice bunch of people-, that way. When I attend crops, if someone needs something (an extra piece of cardstock, a particular punch, ribbon, color of ink, whatever) there is ALWAYS someone who will gladly lend, or give, whatever it is that's needed. Are you a 'kitchen sink' scrapper? (meaning, you're like me and want as much of your stash with you as possible, just in case, lol? or are you going to take a couple specific projects to focus on for the entire time? There are a lot of threads on the General Scrapbooking board about how to make page kits to be extra-efficient, that sort of thing. I never worry too much about getting very much stuff done at my weekend retreat; for me, it's as much about the 'getting away' and the crafty atmosphere as it is about completing pages.

One of my favorite weekends is an annual crafting retreat. Half of our group of eight brings their own chairs and several of us bring small Ott lights. Ours provides a cup holder/garbage bag combination that screws onto the table. Definitely plan to have something for garbage at your spot.
Dried fruit & nuts are another snack idea.
We always make some sort of treat bag for each other with embellishments, chocolates, etc.
We also have a table where we put embellishments that we are willing to share. I have a lifetime supply of sequins and leave them out for anyone to use and leave little baggies and encourage my friends to fill them up and take what they want home. Washi tape is another item I have more than enough to share.
Have fun!

I made tags for a group of women who cropped. They were stamped with a funny sayings and people used them on their pages that weekend.

Instead of a pillow to sit on, consider getting a cushy kitchen chair pad. I bought one for a crop I was going to once because the folding chairs at that venue are horrible. Liked it so much I went back to Target and bought three more to put them on my kitchen chairs at home! I ended up buying another one with memory foam in it when I forgot to grab one of my chair pads on my way out the door to that same crop a couple years later. That one lives now in my studio on the wooden chair that converts to a step stool.

Have a great time!!! I went to a three day crop last weekend and had such a lovely time just spending time with other women. I haven't cropped in years, I usually am on the internet, or reading and relaxing. A couple weeks ago I bought some sock/slippers from Target and they would a nice gift and I think they were five dollars or less. They're like fluffy footy socks with rubber non-skid dots and everybody complimented them last weekend.

Just finished packing up my scrap stuff for the weekend. Decided to bring 2016 and 2017 December Daily. A Christmas gift tag project and stuff for Ali's Product Play. Should be enough to keep me busy for several days. Really wish I had not thrown out my rolling scrap suitcase, had been years since I scrapped and moved 4 times and it was just so big-so I tossed it. Oh well. I used a small rolling suitcase for the scrap stuff. : ) Picked up some cute $1.00 kits from AC Moore-a string banner with little penguins that you can quickly make. Figured it was "winter" themed and works for everyone regardless if they celebrate Christmas-there were lots of Christmas things. Super cute in the kit area, I saw some headbands and lots of ornaments. Will put the banner kit on each person's table and I bought a TON of snacks. Packed a basket with various tools to share-mostly large punches that are really nice to use for a variety of things. Now I just have to shower, get ready and pack up my clothes. This is an all day affair just to get ready to go. : )

for snacks, I prefer things that won't get onto my fingers or onto my projects- no chips, Cheetos, etc. For myself, I usually get a theater box of candy- Hot Tamales- for cinnamon, some peppermints or mixed hard candy, and something chocolate. Or I'll bring Smart Pop (lightly salted) popcorn because it's not too greasy.
ETA: at the crops I go to, we always have a swap / trade table. You put any unwanted (or extra, or no longer your style) supplies on the table, and take anything that catches your eye that other people have left to trade. One person's discarded scrapbook supply is another person's 'perfect finishing touch' for their scrapbook page, lol.
