Has anyone gotten their son the shot? At first I had been hesitant. 15 year old DS had a physical today and they asked me about it. When I showed hesitation they suggested I read more on it as a lot of parents are now getting it as its being proven more effective. Thoughts?

There was a thread about this recently. I've never tried to link a thread, so hope this works. If it doesn't, search "HPV" and it will come up. HPV VaccineWe did choose to vaccinate both DD and DS on the advice of our Pediatrician and other research.

I have not had my 13 yr old DS yet. His doctor talked to us about it when he had his physical in the summer but said he didn't feel we had to. Maybe by 15 we will consider it.

Absolutely positively I did it and did not think twice. I had it given to one gay son and one straight son. It protects them just as much as it does their partner

Yes. My son is now 14yo and I did it when he was 12yo. My most fabulous pediatrician suggested it and I absolutely concurred.

I also had my son get vaccinated. Doctors are seeing a lot of oral and throat cancer in young men who had this virus . Oral sex is one big way that this is being spread. I have a friend who is a nurse in the OR and she has seen this up close .

I didn't, but my bil and his wife had their son vaccinated but not their daughters. He's sixteen and has been a "player" for years.

My 15 year old son had his physical today and received the first shot. I didn't think twice about him getting it and he was in favor of it too.

Yes. I took my 16 year old son in for a physical a few months back and the Dr. asked if we'd like the shot (actually shots). She discussed the whole thing, then I looked at him and he nodded yes, he wanted it. He said to me "mom, why WOULDN'T I want to protect myself from something if I could?"

My ds chose to get it when he was 18. His cousin got the first shot but had a reaction right after so he didn't get the second shot

For those saying no, can you share why?
My oldest is 10, so I've started researching it.
