I was making sausages the other day and went to dump the sausages from the styrofoam tray into the very hot pan. Somehow I lost my grip and one edge of the tray hit the inside of the pan and immediately stuck on. It's thin long line with a layer of burnt on black styrofoam. I've soaked it in hot water and scrubbed it with a dish scrubbie and a magic eraser and it's not touching it.
It's my stainless steel all-clad pan and I use that thing all the darn time and do not want to have to replace it. Any ideas!

Try the powdered version of Barkeepers Friend. I've worked some miracles on my All Clad pots with in the past. It might take multiple cleanings to work it off. I'd also check with All Clad customer service and see if they have a solution.

Try putting about 1" of water in the pan with cream of Tatar. Bring to a boil and let simmer for a few minutes then gently scrap with a spatula. I've had a lot of luck using this method to remove burnt on foods.

Ketchup and baking soda. First ketchup, let it sit. Then add baking soda to make a paste you could let this sit but you probably don't need to. Then scrub with the paste. I've gotten burnt on food off the bottom of a pot after all the cleaners and scrapers in the world didnt work with this method.

if all else fails, try acetone. it might dissolve the Styrofoam and shouldn't harm the stainless steel- we use it to clean stainless parts in the lab.

Thanks ladies. I will start trying this weekend and hope one of them works. I seriously love this pan and at the moment have a lot of expenses so I'd rather not have to replace it!
