...for Monday and Tuesday next week. The company "swears" they'll be done on time. My kids are both coming home Tuesday night, and my houseguests arrive Wednesday. DH forgot to tell me this until this morning. Hopefully we will have heat for Thanksgiving. On a good note, DH did arrange it, like I nicely asked.

oh my. I'm not sure I could be calm about something like this. They just don't think about what else is going on do they? Good luck and I hope it gets replaced quickly and you can be toasty warm and not feel like you have to invite furnace installers to Thanksgiving dinner (because they are there anyway.)

Just had this done last week. They replaced my furnace, air conditioner and installed a gas line for my new stove in 2 days.
Two days for a furnace shouldn't be a problem, good luck.

I wouldn't have expected that to take 2 days! Good to know!

We got a new one a few years ago. Additional sheetmetal work was required, but even with that, it took less than a day, but the A/C was already in.
Hope it goes smoothly for you.... Enjoy a toasty warm Thanksgiving!

It's actually pretty much the whole HVAC -- two furnaces (my house is on four levels), two air conditioners, and adding some duct work in the finished attic. lindas I'm so glad they could finish on time for you, that gives me hope that they aren't trying to cram it into two days. They PROMISE they'll be done. The system is more than 20 years old, and wasn't great quality to begin with. It very precariously made it through this last year -- it really really needs replacing, but he had all this time and scheduled it Thanksgiving week??!! perumbula Honestly I'm too busy to be really freaked out, and I don't have to do anything for it but write the check, but still, it's a worry I don't need.

Our whole system replacement was done in one day, probably 8-9 hours. But, I feel your pain! My DH scheduled it for the day after Christmas one year. We had our son and his family there for the whole week. It was utter chaos.

We had a new furnace, air conditioner and thermostat installed around this time last year (20 year old 2-story house with a finished basement). We had to have some duct work moved/installed, which meant making holes in the ceiling of our basement bonus room. Which meant moving a whole bunch of cabinets and boxes (that was a major, annoying pain). The house got cold, but we have vent-less, gas fireplaces in both the basement and the main floor family room so we were comfortable. What really made the whole thing worth it was the new wire-less, app controlled thermostat. Not having to go up and down the stairs to change the temperature has made me ridiculously happy. Plus, having 3 dogs in the house, I love being able to control the temp for them when I'm away from home. (Silly, I know.) ETA- It took them about a day & a half, if I remember correctly.

Good luck! I'd have a hard time being calm about it.

That's why I like to schedule things myself. I want it to work around my schedule as I am the one at home (and I am a little controlling I guess). Are you without heat now? If not, and you are just getting a new furnace, could you call and reschedule? I guess it may be too late now, and that would stink! I hope it all works out for you! I hate last minute stressful things when you already have the holiday and guests!
