These are SO MUCH FUN. I picked up a set at MIchael's using a 50% off coupon (they're weirdly pricey) and just tried them for the first time today. I am in love! I am going to make a series of these little cards since they were so very easy! Anyone else use these markers?

There are 4 sets of Mermaid Markers. One set came out earlier this year. 2 of the new sets this time around each have 4 glitter colors. They are all available at Michaels.

I've never even heard of them. What's special about them? They are basically watercolor markers. You can use them as is, or you can easily apply watercolor techniques to them. Easy to use on the go. And they have a brush tip.

They are near the scrapbook/stamp sections. Probably closer to the area with Ranger products. There is a Jane Davenport area.

I like them to travel with. Great for doing lettering also because of the brush tip. It makes my regular handwriting look fancy!

Dang. Now I want those. No no no. I’m staying strong I already have the whole set of zig markers which I haven’t used and just recently bought copic marker which I haven’t used either. I got to get a washing machine. I gotta save money. Ugh. This place is full of temptation (but I like it)😊

Hey christinebk , what don't you love about them? They are on my wishlist, but maybe I need to put the Mermaid markers on my list instead. scrapperal The video shows it best, but they behave like a marker and it bugs me. Also the colors are not as vibrant as I expected- if I do watercoloring (which is my favorite), I'll grab my actual watercolor palette. If you want to try them out SC has them on sale right now www.studiocalico.com/shop/clean-color-real-brush-12-color-setOnly 2 sets left as I looked, sorry if they sell out

I feel so stupid for preferring using watercolours instead than any of this type of markers. What am I missing? Are these aimed at people who don't like using traditional watercolours?

You should not feel stupid at all, if anything, I feel stupid for buying the zig markers in the first place. I thought they would lay color down easily and then I could follow up with water or vice versa.

I'm less than thrilled with my zig markers too. They don't work as easily for me as they look in some videos I've seen.

I've tried all kinds of watercolor paper, including the Bristol Smooth that has been recommended by many YouTubers. I can get regular watercolors to blend, but the Zig markers don't blend easily for me. Then again, they aren't watercolor markers.

I like the Mermaid Markers for ease of use. I don’t have to carry around my pans or tubes, and I don’t need water or a brush. I don’t use them when I am painting, I use them more for when I need little touches of color here and there.

Oddly enough I just saw the Jane Davenport section at Michael’s. I’d never heard of this product befor so thanks for the reviews. I might need to add these to my ‘after the freezer’ list.

They are in the same aisle as the Ranger products...right next to them at my store. Good luck finding them. They were out of stock FOREVER at my location.

I scrapbook but I don't use pens, markers or paint (a little spray ink but that's about it). My 11 year-old daughter has really taken an interest in markers/pens/paints. So far she has just used cheap, kid type stuff. I'm thinking of upgrading her collection for Christmas. I'll probably just get her one small pack and see how she does with them. Since I don't have any experience with these markers I have a question. Can they be used with regular card stock or do I need to get her watercolor paper? If my Michaels is out of them, does anyone know if Hobby Lobby carries them? Thanks!

They work on any paper but just be aware that they may bleed through thinner paper, especially if applied heavily, since it is liquid. They are only sold at Michaels. You can order them online from Michaels. You can also order them from Jane Davenport’s website, but they are shipped from Australia.
