I have been out of the loop with scrapbooking/message boards/latest trends for about FOUR years!! I finally have life somewhat settled, and have a scrappy space to work in, and am all re-organized (although, who is really ever organized when it comes to supplies!?), and I'm ready to get back to it!!
It's so overwhelming though!! I have a Cricut (and SCAL2, I think? The last one that was for Cricut before they became illegal), I am a 12x12 paper scrapper. I don't even know if I can still get the albums/refills that I love... gotta google that!
I don't know what the latest trends are, or the cool new tools... HELP!!??
What are some "must haves"? What are the best online stores now? Kit clubs?
I feel like a newbie!!

Watch some YouTube videos to see the latest trends. Lots of pink and aqua. White backgrounds. Mists. Gold and sparkles.
12 by 12 still exists, so you are good there.

Welcome back to scrapping! basic tools are pretty much the same, so you are prob all set there.
what you will probably need are some new inks and markers after 4 years Lots of pages nowadays are created with inking and stencilling on light cs--kind of making your own patterned papers. You might want to check into acquiring a set of Tim Holtz distress OXIDES. Lots of fun and lots of demos all over YT.
And you might want to look into getting a few stencils and some texture or glitter pastes. Also Nuvo drops in various colours: enamel dots are definitely a "thing" now, and with the drops you can make your own.

Go to Pinterest and look up specific things like beach layouts for scrapbooking. Then see what makes you all warm inside. Is it specific paper lines, embellishments, etc. Go from there. We all have our must haves and on this board we are all so different. For me, being ultra organized is the thing that makes me happy to scrap.

Definitely don't worry about the trends and just do as the PP said and look at lots of ideas and decide what suits you best. Pinterest is your friend here! Some kit clubs to look at might include: Felicity Jane, Cocoa Daisy, Hip Kits and Citrus Twist. Have a wonderful time getting back into it. For me the key was not overloading on products and keeping my choices limited, it made me way more productive!

I'm glad you are back!
Most of us like the WRMK 12x12 albums and page protectors.
Check out the gallery here for inspiration.

I had to take a long break from scrapbooking when we were renovating, packing, selling our home, and moving halfway across the country. We did the move ourselves, so there was very little time for crafting.
It took me months to get to where I could unpack and set up my scrapbook room. Like you, I felt a bit lost. I think if I were trying to follow the new trends, I would have never started back up again.
I printed pictures that I knew I wanted to scrapbook, dug in my stash and found some papers, etc., to go with them, and got started. I felt like a newbie again at first. I am happy with the results, though. Is it trendy? I seriously doubt it, but as long as I like it, that's all that matters.
If you need ideas, I suggest you see if there are any scrapbook stores in your area. I had to drive over an hour to get to a good one, but it was fun to see what is popular now. I came home with two Wink of Stella pens that apply a shimmer to projects.
Check out the gallery here. Look on Pinterest.
I love Graphic 45, so I check their website and ideas occasionally, too.
Welcome to the RefuPeas, and welcome back to the world of scrapping!

Welcome back. I’d suggest checking out the kit sites people have mentioned. Most of them are pretty trendy so you can get an idea of what’s popular.
As far as tools go, if you’re a stamper you might want to check out stamping platforms. I have the Tim Holtz one put out by Tonic. There’s a video on YouTube.

Welcome back!!!! You got lots of great advice. Check out Instagram too. Look at the #subjects like #scrapbook for example. Then follow those hashtags other Instagrammer's are tagging. You will be overwhelmed and completely inspired by new trends.
Cricut Explore is the new Cricut. It can cut SVG's. Big upset change over at ProvoCraft in the last few years and the company was completely restructured.
12x12 is still in. No worries. Michael's still carries a lovely selection of albums and protector's.
Tool trends- I think a lot has scaled down. Trendy classic's like the Fuse are super popular and useful.
Tuesday Morning is the hot store to buy things from now.
