Where I live now, it is 45 minutes to the closest ones, both of which are small. I bought very little at either one. The only one that is decent is a drive of over an hour.
I'm not in the freezer, but I may as well be.
Do you still have a decent LSS to shop at? If so, how far a drive is it? How often do you go?
If not, where do you shop online for supplies?

There's actually a store not too far from me but I refuse to shop there because the owner is such a beyotch. She treats both her customers and employees like caca, which is sad because I would rather shop local than order online. I know my opinion is shared in the community, I honestly don't know how she's stayed in business so long! Consequently I order from scrapbook.com or A Cherry on Top.

The closest LSS to me is about one hour and 15 minutes, door to door. As a rural resident, this is not a long drive--it is 20 minutes to our nearest small town which has very little for shopping. I tend to drop into the LSS whenever I am in the larger centre, which is about once per month. I like that I can print photos at WalMart, drop into Michaels' to check out the deals there, and visit the LSS, along with other errands I do while in town. Because justjac also lives in that community, a day on the town also usually includes--at the very least--a shared meal and a chat with a scrappy friend. An added bonus is the owner of the LSS is quite willing to set items aside for me if I send her an email requesting new products I have seen on line, or ask her to hold some in stock items I need. She puts my pile, with a sticky with my name on it, behind the till and I pay for it when I come in. She will sometimes email me to ask if I want a particular product line set aside--she knows me WAY too well! There are several scrapbook stores in Edmonton, which is about 2 1/2 hours from home, and when I am in the city or passing through I like to make a quick stop into at least one of them. Those visits are 2 to 3 months apart, and I don't get into each store each time. One of those stores I have more of a cyber relationship with. She sends out 2 monthly kits every two months, and before she seals up the package, she emails me to find out if I need anything else. She also includes a standing order of glue glider refills in each shipment. |

If you can pick up the items within a few days she will let you shop online and pay when you pick up so this is generally what I do. She's great and it's nice to have a visit as well as look at all the new scrappy goodies.

I'm 2 hours from the nearest Michael's or Hobby Lobby. There isn't a LSS left in my state (that I'm aware of anyways). I order occasionally from Scrapbook.com, CTMH, Becky Higgins.com and random monthly kit clubs. I'm really not a big shopper anymore.

Mine is 45 minutes away from my work, but in the opposite direction of my house, so I hardly go there. The owner is wonderful and will order anything you need if she can find it. I order online from whoever has what I need.  So too many to list. |

I have a Hobbycraft (our hobby lobby) 10 mins on foot from my work. But it’s got a terrible selection of paper crafting stuff.

Michael's is maybe 1.5 miles and Hobby Lobby 2 miles. Local large craft store about 5 miles and LSS is 6.4. My LSS will order items so i can bypass shipping fees. My LSS also holds numerous crops all year long. I think they are struggling even with all the crops and being the only dedicated LSS in a relatively large metro.

My nearest LSS is an hour drive. I get there once a year or so.

There used to be two. One quite near my house and one about 20 minutes drive away. I liked both of them. I moved to Indianapolis in 2009 and both of them closed before I moved back in 2010. The economy in Michigan was very rough during that time. I have Michael's, hobby lobby, and Joann's within a couple of miles of my house.

I have Michaels and Hobby Lobby within 10 minutes or so in the town I live outside of - Joanns and TM are 45 min in the nearby city. ACM is 90+ min in the bigger city. I have NO idea where the closest LSS is - all the ones I knew of are closed and have been a while.

There's only one not so great big box store near me. There's one small store about 45 mins to 1 hr away on the other side of the city and everything else is either in different towns/cities or online.

My local store is about 20 minutes away, but she doesn't carry a lot of the lines I care about. So I tend to only go if I'm cropping with friends.

There are 2 stores in my town that are a combination of different interests, so there's scrapping sections. I don't check too often. I should try one store more. They have it well organized. Full sized LSS? Probably 2 or more hours away.
I've recently been buying from scrapbooking-for-less.com
I'm way behind on the latest and greatest. I'd rather buy products I know I'll use and get more for my money by buying overstock items.

My LSS is about an hour away, so I only go there when I'm driving through that area on my way to somewhere else. But I have 4 big box stores 20 minutes away, and I do most of my scrap shopping there. Always with a coupon, of course.

My LSS is 45 minutes away along with Joann's and HL, I rarely go. Michaels is 20 min away I go there more frequently. Most of my shopping has been online, warehouse boxes and the like.

My closest LSS is in the same Generica town as the Michael's and Joann's and all the other Generica stores. They're all within a few long blocks of each other. If I want American Crafts I go to Joann's because the LSS staff/owner I talked to had never heard of AC or Shimelle (?!?!?) Otherwise the Joann's is pretty crappy. Good quality papers at the LSS but they're not necessarily the lines I'm familiar with (I mean, 75% of the stuff people here are talking about is probably AC so that's a big segment of the market they don't cater to). I think the LSS is good for traditional scrappers who are looking for themey papers for specific photos. They have the local school color stuff and all kinds of other things I have no interest in.
They're all about a 45 min bus ride from my house, like most things (drugstore, grocery are a little closer, but Target, dept stores etc are all in Generica town). ~20-30 mins by car.

The closest LSS to me is about an hour and 15 minutes away so I only make it there about 3 times a year. Ironically, where we have our cabin, which is 2 hours away, there are 2 wonderful LSS!! I am able to visit those whenever we go to the cabin., which is about 5-6 times per year. My DH thinks the only reason I go to the cabin with him is to shop for scrapbook supplies! He's pretty much right!!!

The closest one is about 45 minutes away. It is actually only about 10 minutes away from my work place, but I still hardly go there.
I used to have 2 stores that were within 5 miles of my house. Now, it is just the big box stores around here.

I don't even know where one is located now, most of the ones near me have closed down over the last few years or have moved to online only. I have a big box store about 10mins away but their selection is terrible (and has shrunk over the last year or so) so if I want anything other than AC paper pads I have to buy online.
I have a couple of Aussie sites I shop from but mostly I buy from the US.

We have a really good one about 25 minutes from my house. I like to actually touch and feel paper before I buy it, so that part is good. She is definitely more expensive that the box stores, so I usually buy what they don't carry. I do support her at least once a month.

There is a craft store that sells yarn, fabric, home decor and scrapbook items less than a mile from my house. It opened about a year ago after 11 years of not having anything except a tiny J's (with one scrapbook aisle), and Tuesday Morning near me.
I try to remember that I am saving on shipping when I see something that is cheaper by $3-$4 online...

We got a new one back in May and only about 20 mins away!!! So happy and they carry lots of nice, current stuff. Only thing is...they won't carry AC because they feel Michaels carries it and I've tried to explain to them that this is not the case, but they still won't do it!

Thank you for all the replies. Apparently many of you are in the same boat I am.
We do have big box stores within driving distance, but I rarely find anything I want at them.
It took me a year to get to the one good store that is one hour fifteen minutes away. It was a great store, but there is no other reason for me to go there.
I used to have a LSS about ten minutes away from where I used to live. They closed over two years ago, and then we moved, besides. We are a bit out in the country, but there is shopping of many kinds within a reasonable distance, just not a good LSS. I will try to be grateful we do have the ones we have here, even if the best one is such a long drive.

There’s still a pretty big one about an hour from me on the way to our hunting property, but I never get to go there because when we’re going through that way we always have the dogs in the car and/or pulling a big trailer so it’s a PITA. Not to mention I’m with DH and DD, neither of whom are conducive to a leisurely stroll through a scrapbook store.  If I go, it has to be a special trip there and it ends up taking pretty much all day between driving there, shopping, getting something to eat and driving back home. Also, they don’t carry much of the stuff from my favorite companies anyway so when I go there I know I won’t find most of what I really want anyway. If I really want to go somewhere that sells the stuff I like, it’s a 1.5 hour drive one way to a craft store that has a lot of scrapbooking stuff that’s even farther out. Otherwise I drive to 4.5 hours to Iowa where there are a couple of really nice SB stores. I only go to those stores when we’re going there for something else because it’s a whole weekend trip. As for online, I get all the emails from ACOT and SB.com so I see what they have all the time. I’ve only ordered from SB.com once or twice, never ordered from ACOT yet. I’ve ordered from a little company called Creativeplaystamps.com twice (second order is coming this week). The last time the order was very quick and packed nicely so I ordered again when I saw that they had a discontinued Sizzix die I was looking for on sale. I ordered from the Sizzix.com Black Friday sale twice over the last couple weeks because they had stuff I wanted on sale super cheap. I was dumb though because I should have ordered the extended magnetic platform while I was ordering other stuff but didn’t think of it until it was too late. Duh! It was half off too! |

There are no stores left in my state except I heard there is a stamp store in the western part of the state and there is one up to the north in an adjacent state.
But where my mom lives there is one in her town and then a few others in the county or near the county. |

My daughter lives in another state. It's a 24 hour drive to see her. There are a couple of nice LSS relatively near her, about 20 minutes away, although they are opposite directions from her apartment. In the year since we moved to our current home, I visited her and those LSS more than I did the really good LSS that is the hour+ drive away from my home.
I only made the drive once, and that was because I had a scrapbook buddy visiting me. She lives in another state.
