They break easily. Either don't spend much, so you aren't super disappointed when it happens, or spend a LOT, to lessen the chances. DS suggests you go to Evike.com

DS and DH both bought theirs from Dick's. They have been fine so far. I did insist on a full face mask, not just glasses or goggles to protect the eyes. They make some really cool ones these days.

Both my boys have them. I agree about protective equipment and the comment about not being disappointed if they break. We got ours at Academy and neither have broken. We did talk with our kids, though, about never flashing their gun at other people or taking them anywhere where someone not with them could think they were real. The guns definitely look (and with the weight, feel) real. So ours only come out when we are at the ranch.

Do you have a place to play?
You need to check that out first. Most fields are used by "clubs". There shouldn't be a fee, the player just needs to read and sign the rules. Now if there is a place to play, do your research. Don't buy cheap stuff. Don't buy from box stores. It breaks easily. Airsoft megastore is a good place to start. You can find stuff on craigslist. Just to add. Cheap ammo is cheap ammo and will ruin the gun.
If the you don't have a field close by , forget about it.
I think my son has sold all of his stuff. If he hasn't I will pm you.

All I know about them is that they will take out a flat screen tv if someone is dumb enough to shoot at one.
