December 1, 2017 4:06pm EST Senior White House official: Trump "feels sorry for Flynn"From CNN's Jim Acosta A senior White House official said the President Trump has been briefed on the legal situation with Michael Flynn. The senior official said the president is feeling "no anxiety" about the situation. "There is no anxiety with Flynn and about what he might say." The President "feels sorry for Flynn... I think he likes Flynn," this official said, adding the Trump is "thinking about Flynn and his family." The official said it's not accurate that Jared Kushner directed Flynn to talk to the Russian ambassador. This official said there were "fulsome discussions with the entire group" about Flynn's conversation with the ambassador, adding that multiple transition officials were involved in the decision. This official defended Flynn's conversations and claimed the Obama White House knew about the discussions. "None of the conversations were improper and were authorized by the Obama administration," the official said, noting that the Trump team did have a different view on Russian sanctions than the outgoing Obama administration.CNN is reaching out to former Obama officials for comment. www.cnn.com/2017/12/01/politics/michael-flynn-latest?lf-content=225979377:lb-post-0598e572786f8c40d813def14b589382@livefyre.com&hubRefSrc=permalinkNot me, Not me, Not me.............................

You think the Republicans in the House will grow a set and go after Trump? Or after the 2018 Elections and the theory of the House flipping? I think if Trump goes as far as pardoning family, he'll pardon himself too, and set up one hell of a court battle on if any President can do that. Sure wish we had some settled law on that. Guess we've been lucky as a country in a way to not know the answer. I also believe Mueller is working with State Attorney Generals, to run around any potential pardons. Possibly even if we get a Ford/Nixon situation, with Pence/Trump. Could be either situation. But, and I’m just thinking out loud, I am hoping that there are still enough Republicans that have a sense of wrong and right that if incontrovertible evidence of Trump’s collusion comes to light that enough will join the Democrats and call for Impeachment. I may be delusionally hopeful, but I can wish. Have you been hitting the booze early today to celebrate, Elaine? Or you're most likely a better person than I am, cause I don't believe House Republicans will go along with Impeachment in any way. Not unless Putin orders them too.

A former GENERAL who supposedly lived by a code of ethics: I will not lie, cheat or steal, or tolerate anyone who does, just pleaded guilty to the charge of lying to the FBI, and the President “feels sorry for him” ?!?!?! Keep telling yourself that. Nixon didn't actually break in to Watergate either, you did know that didn't you? You need to google "obstruction of justice", not "evidence of collusion". I'm confused I thought he was just charged with lying? I'm not sure what your responding to? I just stated what the Sen said? I don't know they have enough evidence... we'll see where it goes. He's done more than just lie. The consequence of the matter he was lying about is pretty serious. They undermine the very nature of putting sanctions in place if you request the sanctioned country to sit back and wait until a particular person get into office then they'll probably reverse those sanctions. That is colluding with the "enemy" Sally Yates told Don McGhan on January 26th that Flynn was lying to VP Pence and she was fired. LINK

I hadn't heard about the clergy. do you have a link? Here you go: Faith Leaders ArrestedI originally read about it and saw a video on the Sojourners Facebook page. Thank you! I'm guessing tons of UU clergy signed as well - totally in line with our values.

Unless Flyn has rock solid proof of someone else beinginvolved/directing him, I believe he will just go down like a sacrificial lamb. Too many people habevtoo much to lose to allow the President to be officially discredited . All in all, I feel Trump is just dragging his/your country down and making it a laughing stock . I don't even live in USA and I feel as though we are all standing on quicksand .

How ironic... there would be no one to praise him and if journalists did, would it be fake news?

Mueller will not show his hand until the noose is snuggly around the neck. I don’t think we will know until all evidence is in place. I’m fine waiting as long as Mueller continues to be meticulous in making sure evidence is irrefutable.

I can't even be happy about this because I am so freaked out about the possibility of the Republicans passing their awful, unethical tax bill.
Goddammit.

Question: if Democrats take the majority in 2018, can they undo it? Repeal it? We'll have to hold out hope that it's so terrible for everyone that it tips the balance of the election firmly in our favor.

Which isn't going to happen in my lifetime. ETA same reason the Republican majorities in both houses were never able to pass repeal of ACA while Obama was still in office.

Further explains the mad push to quick vote on this tax bill. Need to get it passed before all the chips fall, to pay off donors. I just asked this question on Twitter, but I'll likely get a quicker, easier to understand answer here. But if they DO get half the GOP, or just in general this is bad enough to result in the GOP losing control of the Congress & the Senate (do I have the names right?) can't the Dems just repeal/rewrite the tax bill? So then it's dead anyway, if they can pass it with enough votes to be veto proof. I swear I read somewhere that there is a threshold of support in the Congress & the Senate that you can reach which results in the president being unable to veto a bill. See my response to Merge a couple of posts up. They would need a veto-proof majority to buck Trump on this, and they will never have that. I can't remember if it's two-thirds or three-quarters or what, but it's a high threshold. A mere majority can pass whatever it likes, but they won't get his signature (or that of a Republican successor) on it.
