Insomnia is worth it, if I read things like that! Hysterical.

My cousins ended up with a rooster who was a perfect pet....until he wasn't. I mean, he had a name and made an appearance on the Christmas card! They had to have him taken away as well.
For those unaware (as I was), a rooster's man-parts are on the inside, so neutering is not considered a humane option...they investigated that. He was a beautiful animal, but he was a mean bastard!

LOL, that is hysterical.
We've had a few roosters that Mr. AB had to send to "live on a farm". We live on a farm BTW... One got so bad that if I was riding my horse in my arena he'd come after us and would jump up at the side of my poor mare, and he cut her side with his spurs quite badly.
We did have one rooster who never got aggressive and was such a great guy. I swear those hens drove him nuts too because they never went where he wanted them too and he would wait outside of the hen-house until everyone went to bed. And some of those stragglers would traipse in after dark... That poor old guy... He was amazing in his temperament.

It is and certainly made me laugh. And speaking of unusual pets, gale w, how is Pete these days?

btw there is a way they can neuter a rooster. Not sure about how humane but the resulting birds are called Capons. There must be some benefit to doing this (other than curbing aggression) that is related to growth or meat or something. Our old rooster was pretty calm. He was SO cute sometimes-I would throw treats in and he would pick them up and distribute them to the hens. He hardly ever got treats himself.

My son accidentally hit one of our neighbors chickens with his truck when it "flew" into the road. I am sure he would not be opposed to hitting a rooster!!

Uh oh, that doesn't sound good. Will he end up being a ladies man or lunch? I really hate the thought of lunch, he was such a cutie and your DH did so much to make sure he survived and thrived.

He's been castrated so he won't be a ladies man. Apparently he wasn't suitable for breeding stock. I told dh to make sure he doesn't end up in our freezer but I think he already knew that.

I wanted to read it! I hate chickens with a fiery passion. Do not feel guilty about consuming them in any form. I was attacked by a bunch of them when I was a young child.

One of my friends when I was a teenager had a huge rooster named Big John that was MEAN. I was afraid to get out of the car if he was in the yard. He would chase me up onto the porch. We had bunches of chickens when I was growing up and never had a mean rooster. Big John made me a believer!

If the rooster disappeared, would the police immediately suspect fowl play?
