I have a zillion dies I like to use, but am having trouble with cranking my Cuttlebug due to beginnings of arthritis. The Vagabond and the Big shot both have electronic version. I don't plan on carting these anywhere. Anyone have a preference?

I have the Vagabond 2. It works well, especially with the magnetic platform. Doesn't take up much counter space when not in use--it folds up like the Cuttlebug. (I keep the platforms and cutting pads in a drawer.
The width of the platform is just over 6". Not sure if you can cut into a wider piece of cs or pp with the Big Shot Express?

They are both Sizzix machines. The Vagabond is in a cutesy box. I don't think the performance is much different. I have a Cuttlebug and a Vagabond 1 (I think because it only cost $129 online). The Cuttlebug goes with to crafting events, while, oddly, the Vagabond stays home. At home the Cuttlebug is in a bag with all the plates, and the Vagabond has it's own spot and is open at all times, ready to run.

I have a Vagabond as well. The only reason is because I happened to walk into Michaels one day and they were selling it off so I picked it up for a ridiculous price. Initially it sat in the box because I didn't really need it. I have my trusty Big Shot that I love and even for the cost, I considered returning the Vagabond. Eventually I opened the box and I've really never looked back. It cuts beautifully without the need to turn the crank. I love it, and like grammadee said, when its not being used it folds up nicely and doesn't take up much space. I have never seen a Big Shot Express so I can't comment on it, and I don't know what the price difference is, but as a Vagabond user, I highly recommend it.

I have a Big Shot Express and just love it. My daughter has a Vagabond and loves it. I just prefer the Big Shot Express because I always have it out and ready to go for any quick cut. The Vagabond would not fit it the space I have my Big Shot Express in right now. But, I have been trying to get another Big Shot Express since April. It is out of stock everywhere. I contacted Sizzix and they said it would be out this summer. I contacted them again asking about it, and they said they do not have an estimated date for it's release. Even the Vagabond seems to be out of stock everywhere. I don't know why. Have you seen either machine for sale anywhere?

I vaguely recall seeing somewhere that they are re-releasing the Big Shot Express because they were tweaking the motor on it.

If you don't use the thick dies the Gemini cutter gets very good reviews.

I have the Vagabond 2, it's on amazon right now. It works great for me, and is a work horse of a machine. I think the big shot express is sold out but supposed to be re-released some time in the new year.

I have the Vagabond and it is a wonderful machine. I am a card maker and I use it constantly and it has held up.

I'll pop in with a machine you didn't mention but that I highly recommend, which is the We R Memory Keepers Evolution Advanced. I've had mine for over 2 years and here's what I like about it.
1) The motor is sold as a separate accessory to the machine. You can either hand crank or use the motor. What I like about this is that if I ever have an issue where I blow out the motor, I wouldn't have to replace the whole machine, just the motor. I also like that I can hand crank if I need to (for example, if I'm on the phone and the motor is too loud), even though it's not something I do a lot. The motor has a lot of power too, I've cut so much with it. (Also one time when I got a sandwich stuck in the machine, the motor wouldn't start because of the jam, so I was able to switch out for the hand crank and use that to back the sandwich out of the machine.) 2) I like that the sides fold up so it's more compact. 3) The adjustable height of the platform is cool too. I usually leave it at the same height but it's nice knowing I can change it. This plays into #4 as well. 4) What I don't like about the Evolution Advanced is the cutting plate and mat. It is a plastic platform with a mat (kind of like a craft mat). I find that this get warped very easily, plus I didn't like cutting die side up. What I ended up doing was buying the Sizzix magnetic platform and their clear cutting plates and using that instead. Since I could adjust the height of the platform, I can use this other base/plate combo and it still works.
Just thought I'd throw that out there in case any of those features interest you. I really think the Evolution Advanced deserves a lot more attention than it gets. I love mine!
