My 11 year old daughter recently moved to an adult size small/2-4. She is 5'3". Our standard holiday dress has been a typical party dress - short sleeves with full skirt that falls to her knees. I am having the hardest time finding a modest holiday dress for her. The juniors selections are just too mature - spaghetti straps, above the knee, tight, backless, etc. Not mention most are over $100. So far we have just looked online at Dillards and Macy's.
Where should we look next?

I found some knee length fit and flare style dresses at JCPenney online. I don't like backless or spaghetti straps either. Fit and flare usually have a fitted top and a fuller skirt, not huge but often with room for wider hips. I'm 5'2" and these dresses usually hit right on the knee. My favorite one is sleeveless but with a v-neck that is not deep at all. It's pretty modest. I paid around $50-60 each for the two I got. Both have sparkles so they're great for holiday parties.

Justice has some cute holiday dresses that go up to a girls size 20. My adult DD who is 5'2" and wears a size 2 frequently shops in the girls department for items that come in both girls and ladies sizes. The girls size fits her slightly better and is usually about half price. Nike athletic shorts are the first thing that comes to mind. Ladies small swam on her but girls XL were perfect.

We shopped a lot at Delia's at that age. Just watch that they aren't too short. Even though DD was't 5' tall at that age, some of those skirts were short! And Ann Taylor/Loft. They carry 00 petites and DD was a classic dresser from early on. The Loft definitely has younger styles than Ann Taylor. If you have an outlet near you, even better. And I want to say we found a few dresses at Kohl's in the junior section. It won't help you now, but spring is when a lot of dresses are in the stores because of Easter. So I was always sure to pick up a few dresses at that time of the year.
