So what’s next? Is she going to sue Stamping Up and WRMK /American Crafts? I was wondering that, too, but the SU and WRMK are both significantly different in their own ways, and WRMK had theirs before the MISTI, so that might totally backfire. She listed their letterpress in her patent application. Their recent release is nothing like hers. SU's is a hinge, but it's different in that it can be moved along the hinge. Tonic's was different enough that I was surprised a bit by the outcome. Still, removing the two models from the U.S. market, especially if they wanted to release a better version in the near future, anyway, might have been the easy way to stop the lawsuit sooner and not really hurt them. I am betting they have been working on a better version for awhile now, knowing the lawsuit might get too expensive to continue.

This explains the quiet and unexpected drop of the Travel format earlier this year. It came out of nowhere, was not greatly promoted (albeit a product that would have deserved far more marketing). Clearly, Tonic decided to try and get rid of some of the already manufactured stock before the annnouncement came and the products were removed from the market. I've got to laugh at their show of good faith while unleashing the Travel platform quietly while the (very early) deal was in the works and they knew they'd go into negotiating the terms a few months later... Nice on, Tonic Studios!
Any Pea reviews of the Travel format? I could be lured into buying one, jussayin'...

So what’s next? Is she going to sue Stamping Up and WRMK /American Crafts? She already did WeR had a stamp platform that looked similar to hers and it vanished. Now they have this new one with the pegs. She also went after Hampton Arts who's platform was a direct copy with a different color ruler and 1/2 the price.

Posted on the other thread, but I'll stick it here too. Local Hobby Lobby still had the TH large one in stock, in store this morning. Works out to $25ish with tax after 40% coupon. The Hampton Arts one disappeared from Michaels IMMEDIATELY after they were pulled.

I would love to get the travel one but the price point only being $5 less makes it seem so much more expensive. Plus, I won (won't support her again intentionally, haha) a mini Misti in April so I feel like I have all of the sizes covered.
The Hampton Arts one was a direct copy of construction and was pulled because they'd probably have been royally screwed in court. With Tonic's, I'm guessing they either made an agreement to allow them to sell off any stock already sold to places like Notions or they figure with the lawsuit dismissal there is no need to buy back stock already out of the warehouse and will just stop selling it from the time of the announcement.
I'm sure there is a solid reason why the agreement happened and I doubt it's because Tonic isn't going to make another one because they listed the model numbers, not that they were going to stop making stamp platforms entirely. I would wager a guess that they've made more modifications to improve it and distance it even more from the Misti. That being said, if I didn't already own one, I would probably pick it up if it was on my list because a new version doesn't appear to be in this month's Creativation (is that what it's called now?), so if a new one is coming, we probably won't see it until January.

I guess my instinct was correct they did settle. I have a misti it works fine. I am interested in the new stamping up one but I heard it doesn’t stamp well in the corners. I’m not buying another misti because I don’t like her tactics but it works just fine for all the stamping I do

I wasn't going to buy the travel platform cos the only time I'd take a platform is if I'm driving, in which case I can take my regular one. But I bought the travel one cos at least it will save space but mostly as a back up in case my main one breaks. Not sure that a new th platform is going to be issued , so I don't want to take a chance and I never want to buy from msp. I love my TH platform .

Adding you to the list of folks who should let me know if the Travel format is worth purchasing (I love my full-size but I'm willing to throw some cash Tonic Studios' way).
@zingermack stinkerbelle I hope your new platforms reach you soon/have arrived!
PS: Anyone else wondering whether TS will continue to manufacture these models while they possibly try to come up with new ones for the American market? I do wonder how quickly I have to jump on the smaller platform here in Europe. It looks like they're selling them big time in the US right now before they're being pulled.

add me the ones who just purchased the travel platform. Not sure if I need it but I figure if I don't like it I can resell it. I've wanted one for a while but wasn't sure that I would use it much and didn't want the bulky one so we'll see on the travel size (which sounds perfect tbh)

My travel platform arrived today. I love it. It is a lot easier to get good pressure over larger stamps vs the large one. I need to order a bar magnet for it, but I also feel like with the smaller base the 2 included magnets work a lot better in keeping the paper from moving. That's a 5 minute test review with a stamp and scratch paper.

Even though I have the large platform, I panicked and order the travel size from Amazon. It arrived today! I love it! Such a nice little size. This way I have a back up, and something to take to crops. They’ll probably have a new modified version at some point, but I didn’t want to take a chance.

I just ordered the travel size from Amazon, too. I think the smaller size will be just perfect for the stuff I find myself doing these days. I also picked up a couple of inexpensive neodymium bar magnets from ebay to use with it.

Got my order today and they sent me the full size one. WTH. I double checked my order and I ordered the travel size so I've contacted the seller. I already have a full size one. I want the little one.

Joann's has 40% off of most scrapbook supplies right now, including both sizes of the TH platform. There is a flat rate shipping option (no code necessary) and a 20% off total purchase promotion that ends today. Free shipping on $75+ and $4.99 on all others. If you want to stock up on the platforms, now's the time (and they have a crapton of other great things on sale, too).

I actually prefer the travel size TH for all the reasons listed above. If push comes to shove there is always the WRMK Advanced which is my new fav and the Stamparatus. My grudgingly replaced Misti still works also. I don’t have a Stamparatus but I suspect they will stay in the mix. Even if it turns out I’m immortal I think I’m good for stamping platforms.

I want to make sure that I didn't order from the same seller at Amazon. I may need to order the travel sized one elsewhere, and pronto.

Amazon said they are refunding me and not to send it back. Weird. If the seller will send me a prepaid label, I'll be happy to send it back. I'm not sending it on my dime. I did go ahead and reorder the travel one but it's a different 3rd party seller. Hopefully I'll get the right one this time.

I caved and bought the full size one with the Joann sale. I have a little one that is a stampaholic, so I hope that will suffice. Does anyone know where I can get extra magnets??

Gale, I got mine today. It is definitely the travel size. I am more excited about it than Iexpected. The vendor is Athena Xpress. I was worried it might be a knock off, but it isn't. Since Amazon said you are to keep the full sized one, I am curious if it stamps better than the full sized one you got frustrated with, if you have time to try testing it. If you don't, no problem. I hope the travel one works well for you. For those who are looking for additional magnets, I will try to link to the bar magnets that I bought. Permanent Neodymium magnets

sleepingbooty my travel platform arrived today! i played with it for like 5 minutes and am thinking i'm really going to like it. my biggest stamping issue is probably getting the pressure right and this tool is perfect for that. and i don't see super well, so lining things up to restamp is next to impossible for me; definitely the best thing about the platform. i've said before i'm not a stamper (i don't make cards, don't own any fancy layering stamps, just occasionally will stamp on a LO), but hope this will help me actually use the stamps i do own more often. i say go for it!!
