I know my 18 yr old has no credit history yet, but we were entering his info on credit karma and it keeps coming up that his info doesn't match credit bureau records?
Is that because he has none yet? Thought it may at least give baseline?
Thanks!

That is probably why. My 19 year old has a credit card with a minimal limit and when he tried to sign up with LifeLock, they couldn't find him

So maybe until they have a credit card, loan, etc...it may not show up? All he has currently is a bank account

Why don't you go to annualcreditreport.com and try there? This is the official site to get the one free report a year from each of the reporting companies. It may give more accurate error messages if the case is lack of credit (or maybe it won't...).

Thought it may at least give baseline? Thanks! Its funny you posted this. Just this past Sunday we were looking at DS1 (18) at getting an apartment and wanted to double check he had no credit (that no one stole his identity). So we went to Credit Karma and got the same message. We then went to Experian and could see he has no credit - so we are assuming it is because he has no credit. SaveSave

This happened to my DS as well when we started a Credit Karma account for him. I later added him to one of my cards and now he has a history. We went to annual credit report as well and they had no file at all on him until I added him to that card.
