I didn't want this to get buried within the other threads.
I haven't heard on the news how the wildfires started? Have they said? Do they know?
There seem to be so many of them. I've been in/out so I don't know that I've heard an actual complete report on them.

Extremely dry weather, hot high speed winds, and a cigarette butt thrown out of the car is all it takes. I’m not sure the specifics of most of the fires going on but there’s at least one in San Diego that was started in a homeless encampment in a canyon.

I saw a comment that the Sylmar Fire was started by a car. Don’t know if that is true or not.

We've been asked to unplug our outdoor lights. To not park our cars on grass, to not start wood fires in our fireplaces and certainly not use fire pits and BBQs. Our humidity is ridiculously low.

Catalytic converters have caused many of the fires that start on the side of the road. www.cbs8.com/story/35871110/how-a-cars-catalytic-converter-can-spark-a-massive-fireDowned electrical lines are also a major culprit. The power to many communities in east San Diego County has been shut off today as a preventative measure because of the high winds. Another common reason is landscaping or construction equipment sparking on rocks or hot equipment sitting on tinder dry grass.

Looking at electrical wires arcing in the high winds in the recent Sonoma/Napa fires. Last I heard there was an investigation on a piece of private property that had some sort of private electrical equipment near the starting point of the fires. Though on Twitter conspiracy theorists were saying there were high powered lasers pointed at our area by the government that started the fires. Since the fires there are lots of commercials on TV and ads in the papers blaming our utility company for poor maintenance of equipment and people should sue. Not sure that has been proven.
