This is our first real move with movers and I'm wondering how much I should tip. Today there were 4 people packing from 8:30-6:30. I'm paying $250 an hour total for them. The guys doing the actual moving I think he said there will be 6 of them and that is $290 an hour. I'm grabbing bagels and donuts in the morning and I think we'll grab them lunch tomorrow to - there is nothing near by or that will deliver. Today they weren't prepared for that!

Had two moves paid for myself within the last few years - sold house to an apartment and apartment to new house (packed myself). I'm not sure I would have tipped the packers, but I always tip the movers. Both times I had the same crew, and I tipped them $20 each (3-4 guys) because I was billed by the hour and they were working so hard and so fast not wasting time. They clearly were focused and trying to do the right thing.
I didn't provide lunch - but if I did, I'm not sure I would have tipped them at all or that much.
Good luck.

We've done several corporate moves. I've never tipped, but always provided a nice lunch... preordered large Costco sandwich platters, chips/drinks/cookies or had a BBQ place cater lunch, etc.

We tipped $20 each and fed them a great lunch. We used the same guys two weeks in a row so we tipped and fed them the same.

10 years ago we moved local house to house. We had 2 guys that loaded everything. Tipped them $50 each, no food or drinks provided.

I'm planning to tip $20/person and will have bottled water for them. The move should only take about 5-6 hours, 3 guys. I think based on the timing, they'll likely stop and get lunch between houses. They aren't arriving until between 9 - 10, so I imagine they'll have already eaten. In the past, I've provided donuts and they went uneaten, and it was super awkward trying to time when they'd be ready for lunch, what they all liked, etc. If anything, I'd be more likely to give them their tip mid-day (assuming they're doing a good job) and say something like, "Thanks for all your work, hope this helps with lunch. Let me know if you want me to call in an order somewhere."

We have moved many times and we always tip packers and movers. Usually $20 for the workers and up to $100 for the driver. I alsways provide them water and Gatorade and healthy snacks and lunch. I figure everyone does pizza, so have done sandwich fixings and and barbecue.

My 23 year old son works for a moving company and is one of their top movers/drivers. He doesn't expect tips, but he does get a lot of them, and he really appreciates them. Most of their customers do tip. Being a mover is a hard, hard job. I worry about him; he loves his job, but the pay isn't all that great, the hours are sporadic based on jobs, and there are no benefits. Just today, he told me about a corporate client they moved today. It was freezing cold here, so keep that in mind. They spent time in the office packing, where he was sweating in his layers of clothing, going back and forth between where it was too warm to outdoors the cold and wind, all day long. He is a hard worker, and the stories he has to tell, the situations he has been in...I never gave a thought to movers before because I haven't used them.
If you can tip, DO tip.

$20 per person. I've offered bottled water, but they bring their own food and drinks.

We have made 3 cross-country moves in 28 years. Our latest was 5 years ago. For that move we tipped $50 to the driver as he worked at both locations and $20 for each crew member at both ends (old home/new home). We also provided a full lunch and drinks each day at every location. They worked extremely hard!

I wonder as with everything tipping is regional.... My son does moving jobs and 9 times out of 10 receives a very nice tip for his hard work.

We had a moving company pack and move my parents' house and I was surprised when one of the movers basically told me they expected tips.
