One of the things i've been asked to bring to dear SIL's for Christmas Eve dinner is a vegetarian entree in a crockpot. I have a pasta casserole I like to make with a creamy sauce and artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms. Do you think I can make it in a glass casserole dish and then transfer it to a warmed crockpot to keep it warm? We'll then need to keep it warm for a couple of hours.

I wonder if keeping it warm enough to be safe for that long would dry it out too much. It doesn't sound like it is very juicy to begin with. Also would the pasta turn to mush? I have not had much experience with pasta in a crock pot, so am not saying that this is a problem, just something to consider.

My first thought is, why not? Just no meat, read labels I guess.

I would say yes, but make it extra saucy.

I think it would be ok. Could you take extra sauce to add if needed?

Thanks all. I was thinking I'd need to make it extra saucy... Might just give it a try.

Is it a casserole that normally gets a browned top from being in the oven? If so then you might have to sacrifice that unless you could transfer it verrrrrry carefully to the crockpot.
