We leave for Vegas on Sunday, so I have been working steadily. Still need three gifts, two will be Vegas Knights jerseys, so that will be easy. Everything is decorated, made, and in full swing. I used to have everything purchased and wrapped by Thanksgiving, so I feel a bit like a slacker.

YOu can do it!!! I'm not a slacker, but I can be your cheerleader! Be like the mom in Christmas with the Kranks, put on your vest, and perform a Christmas miracle! Bonus points if you can get Frosty up on the roof!!! OMG. I need to hire you. Please come to my house and help?? I can promise you that it will be a beautiful day (blue skies, mid 70's...and the rest of the week, mid 80's...) I will feed you and ...well, you could be my Christmas miracle. And even knowing how much I need to do, I am still sitting here in my pjs, drinking coffee pretending to be shopping on line. Feed me? Heck yes! Eating and decorating? What else is there! I must say, though, that I probably have too much time on my hands compared to most. But I do find it helpful to break tasks up into manageable bites each day. Let yourself pretend online shop until a certain time, and then get one thing done. Lather, rinse, repeat. Go!!!

Well, I put together the perfect Christmas display in my yard and my home is decorated just so. I made all of my decorations and my gorgeous tree is littered w/only the finest and prettiest ornaments. So far, I have the leaning tower of tree, because everytime we stand it up the cats start playing and it tilts, again. I went sparse on the decor(store bought a few years ago, fyi), because my kitten sees the stuff as toys. Yes, I have a tree full of cat toys. The only handmade thing in my Christmas boxes is the dust. I have my Chanukkah stuff in one room and the tree in another. I still need to order a couple things for dh and I need to ship a box to my sil, but that requires me getting up off of my tuchus and going to the post office to do self serve. I don't wanna. You're not slacking, anxiousmom, you're multi-slacking and that makes you a perfectionist.

I realized the other day that no one had put up our tree or decorations at work. Usually that is done right after Thanksgiving. However, we've been in the thick of things with the Northern California Firestorms so no one has had the mental energy to do it. Our party is coming up at our CEO's house and I am curious how festive everyone will feel.

Totally makes sense. When you think about it the Christmas season is SO short once it starts! Like four Saturdays and most of those are filled with friends/family/work events from the get go. And there are so many things to do and places to be and stuff to do for those things!
I had our decorations up right after Thanksgiving, our friends party last weekend, wrapped the gifts earlier this week, and mailed the last package yesterday. But I have been working on crafts, decorations, and gifts since Halloween. It is A LOT of work!

Decor has been up only because I hosted my Xmas holiday party. Tree only just went up, not decorated yet.. gifts? Hardly any. Went out today and realising I'm in too foul of a mood to shop for anyone! I have a hair appt in an hour. Maybe I'll feel better after that. Otherwise it's 's gift cards for all!!

No decorations up, no presents bought, no meal-planning done. And it won't happen until I'm done writing papers (2 down; 1 to go). So...yup...it's going to be interesting.

Our real tree was purchased this morning from Ikea. It is presently in the middle of our living room "unfolding" from it's frozen, wrapped position. Hopefully, it will be decorated tomorrow. I've had a wreath on the door for a few weeks, a meagre star light on our front window and some snowmen on the interior doors. The Christmas placemats have been out for a while. Most of the shopping is done. I just have to pick up an office chair for dh. His chair is broken and he has a bad back. We've had a chance to attend a couple Christmas parties and family events so that's been nice.
This week: -decorate the tree! -wrap and bag the presents. Most will be in reusable cloth bags -pick up the fresh turkey and supplies for dinner -create a centre piece for the table (this will be a fun activity) -pick up a gift in the US. I have a mailbox in New York for items that can't be delivered to Canada. -I want to crochet ds a scarf. I have the yarn. I've started twice and made mistakes. UGH. I need to do this all in one session. -visit the lights in Niagara Falls with the family. Looking forward to this.

The inside is done and 95% of gifts are bought. I should be able to finish wrapping tonight.
However, we didn’t do anything outside. We have tons of decorations and DS started decorating, but he gave up and I just never had the energy to go out and help him finish.

Christmas is pretty low key around our house. It seems like our kids who are in their 20's really don't care if we decorate. They just want to know about Xmas dinner.

I'm a slacker too this year. Our tree is still in the box in the garage roof, and there is not a single decoration up anywhere. I only started my Christmas shopping yesterday and I ended up buying more things for myself than anyone else. And what I bought myself isn't even going under the tree. Oh, but that's right.... there is no tree!
The only sign of Christmas at my house is the pile of gorgeous Christmas cards from the Pea card exchange, sitting on my coffee table. If I do nothing else this year I will at least hang the cards up.

I’m old. In the olden days (the 70s) some people didn’t up up a tree until close to Christmas. Some people didn’t put one up until Christmas Eve. When i look at photos of trees from my childhood they look so beautifully festive with their lopsided sparse branches and large C9 bulbs and lots of tinsel. I admit I am not a fan of perfectly shaped, full, fake trees decorated with matching, themed decorations. I remember that too. I am not a fan of trees with matching ornaments. I like a more un-styled, bohemian sort of tree myself.

No tree although I took out the stuff today and set up a projection of frosty and Jack Skellington that we've never done before so there's that. Just ordered my Christmas cards so I can pick them up Monday. Haven't wrapped anything, spent all day cleaning and baking for a Christmas cookie swap tomorrow and hopefully we'll decorate on my birthday, that always seems to happen because we're so busy this month. I couldn't decide which card to do so I did two, so it will be fun sorting out who gets which card.

When i look at photos of trees from my childhood they look so beautifully festive with their lopsided sparse branches and large C9 bulbs and lots of tinsel. I admit I am not a fan of perfectly shaped, full, fake trees decorated with matching, themed decorations. I remember tinsel. Lots of tinsel. And my dad would blow a gasket if we clumped it. He would spend so much time organizing the lights that by the time the ornaments went up, we lost interest. I love tinsel ! When I was young we always had lots of it on the tree. Grandpa insisted it had to be hung one strand at a time. Took hours. No one else had patience for that, so when he wasn't looking, mom and my aunt would throw handfuls of tinsel at the tree and wherever it landed was just fine. We also then removed the tinsel from tfe tree and packaged it to save from year to year (I doubt many others did that). I can't use tinsel now because the cats eat it. And you don't want to have to deal with a cat After he ate tinsel! I still have some really old tinsel from my great grandmother. It's colored, about 2mm wide strands and made of lead (gasp). As for Christmas decorating, we nearly always decorate and put up the tree Christmas Eve (and host a big family dinner on Christmas). DD is home from college and pushing to do it earlier, so we stuck a wreath on the door today. She may do more next week while I'm at work. I'm feeling ahead right now! When I was little Santa brought our Christmas tree. We went to sleep early Christmas Eve after church and there was nothing at all Christmas in the house. Nothing decorated. Woke up Christmas morning to a tree, presents, decorations, fancy food, etc. and suddenly it was Christmas! It was magic. If you're not feeling like decorating right now, Tell your boy you were waiting for his help to put up the tree, decorate, bake.

Add me onto the NOT-ANYWHERE-NEAR-DONE list! I only wish it was due to multi-slacking! I hope to be doing some of that later on, closer to Christmas and the week after, but first I've got a LOT of other stuff to get accomplished. DD24 moved back home, so we're busy incorporating her entire apartment into our house, which involves reshuffling furniture in 3 different rooms, going through stuff and condensing or getting rid of things we no longer need but hadn't done anything about yet. The move was supposed to take place in early January AFTER the holidays, but the timing was moved up due to circumstances beyond any of our control so we just went with it. Have already made 3-4 trips to the donation center, and still have a few things for curbside pick up, but it's getting there. We worked on it nonstop today and got a lot done, but there's still no space in the living room to put the tree up yet. There is, however, a tree in a stand (with water) SITTING in the living room, waiting to be moved into place and decorated (maybe Monday evening!) Up until Friday, there wasn't even room for that so we've made a lot of progress. We've had a wreath on the door for a few weeks and I've gotten a miniscule amount of shopping done. Have sort of planned holiday meals, but that will probably be low-key this year (because we'll all be exhausted by that point!). Need to bake some cookies for work potluck luncheon on Tuesday. Other baking will happen later in the week. I'm taking off Thursday & Friday to get things done and hope to be finished shopping before then - most of it probably online. I'm just tired of everywhere I look there's a piece of furniture to be moved (or trip over), or a shelf or closet to clear or organize, etc. There was a reason we were going to have her wait until January to do the full move, LOL! We needed that time to organize and get the space ready for her and all her stuff. Ah well, Christmas is all about spending time with family, right?!

The tree and wreath have been up since the weekend after Thanksgiving so that’s done. Most of the presents are bought but nothing is wrapped. I need to get something to send off to DH’s uncle and aunt out of state but they’re in their 80’s and we’re kind of unsure what to send. I have a couple things I need to sew yet (should take about an hour and a half total) and a couple gift cards to pick up but I have to go to stores I don’t normally shop at to get them.
My baking is all done. I wanted to make some pecan logs but haven’t taken the time to do that yet.
I finally took a photo for the Christmas cards today and worked up a very basic card front with it using digital scrapping stuff. I printed off 30 copies of it that I’ll need to slap on the front of some cards and come up with something to put inside, address and mail them off sooner than later along with the final out of state gift that needs to be sent. At least I bought the Christmas postage stamps a few weeks ago!

I haven't even started anything really. No decorations. No gifts bought. Finished up second block of nursing school this last week in which I missed passing by 7.63 points. Will be repeating starting in January but any Christmas spirit I might have had is lost in the sadness and funk of all of that. Shopping won't start until the 22nd or 23rd since the 22nd is payday. I would rather just skip it this year but the kids don't agree.
Hopefully something will happen to help the spirit emerge for us this year.

Decorating? We're having some serious work done on our house so we're not even decorating this year. So no effort there.
Gifts? I have zero presents wrapped. Every year I pick a new theme to match our tree and this year for the first time in I don't know how long, I'm mixing themes and using up left-overs. Not even half of them are purchased, and I usually start at the beginning of the year. And our list was almost cut in half this year.
Youre in good company!

Definitely not the only one!
This has been one hell of a year. And I'm just not in the Christmas mood at all. And so I'm faking it as best as I can. I still have gifts coming in. I still have gift wrapping to do. Like, all of it.
I was so proud that I mailed out a check to the nephews for Christmas on time, because they live on the other side of the country, and I have no idea what they already have, and if I ask for ideas or a wish list from their parents, there will be items that cost $300 on it, and nothing less than $150. Can't swing that, sorry.
It's funny, because every year I have been so gung-ho on Christmas, doing our Elf, and different activities, December Daily, a special photo holiday card, and such. This year, I'm just glad that Walmart has free 2-day shipping when you spend $35 and that Ebates pays out 1% cash back from WM.
Anyone else hoping for a clean, fresh start with the new year?

We are decorated but we are nowhere near done shopping for gifts, not even close! I need more gifts for the hubby and we are shopping all day for the kids. His family is easy as we are just doing gift cards. He’s off all week and I have Wednesday off so things will get done but it’s so stressful! Plus I am taking my insurance license exam this week and need to study!
