Ryan said that Americans need to have more babies in order to make tax reform and the American economy work. We will have many elderly, as the boomers continue to age and millennials delay having children due to their inability to get decent family-wage jobs, while paying off college loans, while paying an arm and a leg for insurance. Them's the breaks when you take away public-paid higher education, health insurance, early education programs etc. And all these babies he wants us to have, what are they going to do for jobs in 20 years when the multi-national corporations have automated driving jobs, more factory jobs, more service jobs? So, we'll have old people needing programs AND more young people w/o the ability to get decent family-wage jobs due to automation. That sounds healthy. Lots more people in a time when we will need lots less people to still make corporations enormous profits. www.bustle.com/p/what-paul-ryan-said-about-babies-the-birth-rate-ignores-this-possible-solution-7606027

Ryan is either incredibly stupid, out of touch, or he thinks the American People are stupid.
What a dumbass.

I absolutely loathe him. I won’t be sad to see him go, and hope that happens in 2018.

Clearly, he has never had a loved one experience infertility. This is a dagger in the hearts of anyone who has/is.

Well, clearly those who are experiencing infertility have a responsibility to acquire a handmaid to breed for them. The GOP will start rounding up useless millennial women who aren't paying taxes any minute, to breed for the straight, white, rich Christian couples who are the only worthy ones in this new society.

One of the primary reasons the US has had a sustainable population growth is immigrants. Dumbasses.
Do politicians even study world affairs any more? It’s as if they all got their economics knowledge from the back of a cereal box.

Also, given the expense of raising kids, the idea that the generation that enjoys lower wages, widening income inequality, and more education debt is supposed to also take on the expense and offer the free labor of raising more kids to take care of aging baby boomers? Ha ha ha.

It's like they're trying to be caricatures of truly awful people. And succeeding.
I have a DD and DSIL having fertility issues so Ryan can STFU.

Yeah, a lot of these people who consider themselves "white" and "Christian" are from ethnic groups that weren't considered white and weren't the right kind of Christian when they immigrated. The historical amnesia is appalling.

Not to mention PAID TIME after a child enters a family. Want to vomit? "America does plenty of things well, but paid parental leave isn't one of them. Out of the world's 196 countries, the US is one of only four that has no federally mandated policy to give new parents paid time off. That burden is placed on individual states and employers. But some countries really prioritize the well-being of new parents — both straight and same-sex — granting them more than a year of leave at full pay." www.businessinsider.com/countries-with-best-parental-leave-2016-8But, yeah, "We're #1!! USA! USA!!"

I raised 4 children. Anytime childless individuals got self righteous about exemptions, and their taxes paying for schools, I gently reminded them that my children and their peers would be the doctors and nurses caring for them in their old age.

F'ing idiots. WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. It's called a society. I wish people who don't get that would go off and live in an ascetic monk cave. They could glory in their ability to only worry about themselves. Nothing forcing them to stay in a civilized (i.e. taxes pay for common services) society. Barring that, they should all STFU and realize that in SOCIETY we all pay for each other's needs - roads, schools, courts, anti-pollution standards and enforcement, etc.

Economist responds: "ONE by one, prejudices are tumbling in the West. People may harbour private suspicions that other people’s race, sex or sexuality makes them inferior—but to say so openly is utterly taboo. As most kinds of prejudiced talk become the preserve of anonymous social-media ranters, though, one old strain remains respectable. Just ask a childless person." www.economist.com/news/leaders/21725563-more-and-more-westerners-have-no-kids-they-should-not-be-criticised-it-defence?fsrc=scn/tw/te/bl/ed/indefenceofthechildlessnokiddingI am thrilled when those who want children have them and those who don't, don't. (I am saddened when those who want them have fertility challenges and that is not the subject of this comment). Centuries of women having to have children because society demanded they be either moms, nuns, nurses (until married), teachers (until married) or prostitutes gave us millions of children raised in misery and anxiety w/mothers who did not and/or could not nurture them. To those w/o children by choice - I respect your choices.

Someone educated them and their parents. ETA: we are a community.

Ryan said that Americans need to have more babies in order to make tax reform and the American economy work. First line of your original post! Now that we know what is in their master tax cuts, one can only afford 2 kids IF you want a deduction for each kid!
