Anyone else get the news that your name, addresses, credit card info and contact info has been breached in the MFT order system?
UGHH!HH!H!H!H!H!H!HH!HH!H!HH!

Yes. Monday I got a box of stamps I ordered from them, and DH got a letter telling him he got data breached when he ordered some for my bday. I ordered some the same day he did, so I'm still waiting to see if I get a letter, too.

That’s terrible. I feel so bad for you. I’ve been through that and I know what a hassle it is. At least they let you know.

I think there may be statutes that say they have to let you know or they risk being sued. I guess they can be sued anyway (since anyone can sue anyone for any reason as long as they can cover atty fees and court costs), but at least this way they're doing their due diligence in alerting their customers, so they have less chance to be ruled against.

Sorry. I hate when stuff like that happens!
I didn't get the email (yet!) but a friend did. I've had six orders from them this year. :/

I always use PayPal, so luckily I'm not at risk from my scrappy purchases, anyway. I did just get a notice from my bank that my debit card was compromised at an "undisclosed merchant". So far no fraudulent charges. They sent me a new card. 'Tis the.season for credit card theft!

At least that's a bit less to worry about!

When did the email go out?
Wonder why they pick and choose who to notify. I ordered from them before Thanksgiving at their 30% sale.

When did this data breach occur? I have only ordered from them once this year (back in May), but I ordered from them quite a bit the year before. I have not received a letter or an email.

It looks like the breach was this past summer - so if you didn't order then, you might be OK.

Of my crafty friends, three of us ordered during the breach period over the summer (July to August, if I recall correctly). Only the person that used a credit card on their site got the notification. The two of us who used PayPal did not.

The two of us who used PayPal did not. That's really dumb of MFT in my opinion to not notify others of the breach. The most important thing cyber thieves can get is emails and passwords - if MFT is non-savvy enough to hold passwords in clear text. Because too many people use the same pswds on multiple sites getting access to pswds is often more harmful than access to credit card info - which credit card companies are good about reversing fraudulent charges and changing the cc# quickly. If I were MFT, I'd be clearer about "contact info" that the thieves got and I'd alerts ALL customers in the database, not just those who paid w/cc#.

Phew, I shop there all the time. I always use PayPal though. But, I have been affected by the breaches in so many companies information now. Hopefully I missed the MFT one.

Ugh but at least you found out. I generally use PayPal for scrappy purchases and don't think I've ever bought direct from MFT - at least I didn't get any alert.
