I guess technically they are "Kinder Joy" in the US. Yes, but they are not the same as the original eggs. I found this video which covers the reason and the difference. It's a bit long and shows the kinder joy eggs at the end.

Did anyone else notice the name of the company representative who gave the heartless “we aren’t responsible” statement in response to all those deaths? Dr. Massengill. Makes me wonder if this was the origin of the phrase “he is such a douche.”

this is the first year i didn't put them in my kids stockings (because i was lame and resentful). i do not know what this goop is people speak of?? i only know the milk/white double chocolate outer egg construction with a plastic capsule inside with a small toy that usually requires some type of assembly. sometimes they do not and it is just a small plastic one piece toy. those ones are duds.

I’ll go back and fix it.

I just thought the story behind the creation of the 1938 act was interesting and Ferrero's attempt at making Kinder Eggs that would be legal in the US more of a "Here, you crazy Americans. How 'bout these?" idea. Thanks for sharing this story. It is interesting. This is why my kids loved Kinder Eggs when they were little. A little bit of yummy chocolate and a fun toy. We had race cars and little action figures.

We were very, very disappointed in the Kinder Joy Eggs. The chocolate is coated around 2 crunchy round objects sitting in a bed of white cream. Nothing near the good chocolate in the original eggs. Our toys were broken. Pegs to put two pieces together were broken off; Talk about a choking hazard. Its been years since we had the originals, but the originals had really neat toys in them. Not cheap plastic crap, but working toys such as a plane that the wheels and propellers turn, zipper bag, a tricycle that peddles, a piano that the keys move. They were so fun. I hope Kinder Joy takes note and modifies to make one that is more appealing.

These were 2.49 at our local candy shop. My daughter loved the goop and "chocolate balls" (lol). One had a little car that she liked. The other had a little fairy figurine that she hated, but that's my fault for buying a "girl" one for my doll-hating 5 year old. Didn't notice there were pink and blue versions - ugh, how annoying.

My DD had two in her stocking.. Pretty big hit.. Both toys were okay.. she LOVED the goopy stuff....
just to clarify.. our eggs the toy was separate from the chocolate stuff.. the plastic egg has two sections divided off by a plastic wrapper. One side the toy which we had to assemble and the other side the chocolatey goofy stuff.
