It is very filling. I make this when avocados are on sale and love it! I haven’t tried with salsa but may. I stick with cubed avocado, salt, pepper,EVOO, and lemon juice. So yummy!

I’m a avocado toast addict. I make it for breakfast or afternoon snack almost every day. My favorite way is toast, a tablespoon of whipped cream cheese on each slice, mashed avaocado (Wholly Avocado mini if good avocados aren’t available) and then finish with a Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel Seasoning. Serious mouth happy dance.

Ezekial Bread well toasted, mash avocado with lemon juice (if it's a big avocado and I will add a little mayo to seal the top so doesn't turn brown), sometimes chopped shallot or onion, and I really like Penzey's Fox Point seasoning in it! If the avocado is perfect I think it's a crime to do to much to it Editing for clarity - if it's a big avocado and there will be some LEFT I put in a little dish and seal with mayo....

Ok. Here's the thing. I love avocados. My DH does not. Avocados are very high in calories. I would only eat 1/4 of one at most. I have never, ever been successful with keeping cut avocados from getting brown and I'm sure not tossing the remainder out with the crazy high cost of them around here. Do you have a secret for keeping them fresh? Eat the whole thing in one sitting? Or just throw it out? Inquiring minds want to know!

Do you have a secret for keeping them fresh? Well in the VERY unlikely event that we would have any leftover avocado I use something like this Cover Blubber

Well thanks to the peas I use the everything but the bagel seasoning as well! I do need to try it with a hard boiled egg on top. Do you have a secret for keeping them fresh? I always leave the pit in the remaining portion. Then wrap tightly with saran wrap. Sometimes you might have to scrape off a bit off the top.

Cover the half with the stone in in cling film (saran wrap?) and I put it in the fridge. they don’t keep perfect for long... but then they don’t really need to 😉

But it is GOOD fat! I eat them guilt free!

I don't like avocados, but I hear a lot about avocado toast. I've never seen it, though.

They are a 4 pack of vacuum sealed mashed Hass avocado servings. One mini pack is the perfect amount for two slices of toast. They are 100 calorie servings. No added crap. www.eatwholly.com/products/chunky-avocado/wholly-chunky-avocado-minis/

I love avocados and eat them regularly, but I have never had avocado toast. I don't eat bread, but it sounds yummy. I need to look for those Wholly Avocado Minis because the ones I saw in grocery today won't be ripe until March...

Ohh this looks FABULOUS! Avocado toast?! I've never heard of it but I think I'm gonna have to try it! Perfect for th New Year. I love avacodos, but Dh won't touch them, so I'm always hesitant to buy them as I don't think I would eat them by meself. But for toast! I'm so gonna try this! Maybe with the egg too! YUM! Thanks for posting!! I do like the Cinnamon Toast from PW.

Just finished reading Hippie Food about the early healthfood movement in California. The original avocado toast was served in a Hollywood restaurant around the late 40s/ 50's during the beat movement. I try and make mine as close as I can to the original recipe. I buy a brown round loaf of bread from Sprouts and sprinkle lemon/garlic spread on the toast, then smash a nice Haas avocado on top which usually costs more than the loaf of bread. Add sprouts and a slice of tomato on top. Sprinkle with sunflower seeds. It really does fill you up! My new favorite thing. Had no idea I'd like it this much.

I thought that's what this thread was going to be about! I do like avocados but I always seem to miss the optimum point of freshness; they are either too hard or too soft.

Grew up in LA, and have eaten exactly this at many places. Love it. Also love simple toasted bread, mashed avo, sliced tomatoes and salt.

Anyone who wants to do something a little different next time they make avocado toast - I made an avocado cream this week and its incredible.
1 avocado, a few dollops of soured cream, zest of one lime and squeeze a little of the juice in, one chopped clove of garlic and some salt. Wizz it up in your blender til smooth. Spread on bread.
Top with bacon and jalapenos (if you like a bit of heat).
DELISH!

I grew up in Los Angeles and we had a huge avocado tree in the front yard. I can't remember eating them being a big deal as a kid. Stepping on ripe ones barefoot however, is gross! I do like avocados but waiting for them to ripen means by the time I remember, it's overripe. The only thing I miss from living in Southern California is the fresh produce.

I have a love hate relationship with avocados, I’m not good at picking them and then usually forget about them until they are overripe:(
But I did just have a really good one with my breakfast!
