Have you stayed at the Hard Rock or Royal Pacific? Which one do you prefer? What do you like about them? Not like about them?

We stayed at the Hard Rock in Orlando. I loved that we were about a 7 minute walk from the park's front gate. You could also take a boat ride there too. The hotel was very nice and clean and the rooms were decent sized (we only had two people though). The front desk was very helpful and the restaurants were good. We actually ate most of our meals on the Boardwalk of Universal. There is an awesome place to wait down at the reception area. Lots of places to sit and relax (with videos on a giant screen).

We have stayed at Hard Rock & loved it. The rooms are fairly large-we fit 5 comfortable (3 teens & 2 adults). There's a lot a fun memorabilia and rock n roll decor all over the resort and in the rooms. We never ate there, but the restaurant looked nice. I think it's the closest one to the parks, we usually walked and it only took about 10 minutes. You can also take the water taxi.
We've also stayed at the Portofino Bay, which is also owned by Loews like the Royal Pacific. We loved it, too, it's a beautiful resort.

Another vote for the Hard Rock. We were there last summer. It was 4 10ths of a mile from our room door to the gate of Universal Studios. We are big Disney fans and frequent visitors and we decided that it was less of a walk from the gate of the park to our hotel room door than from the buses to our room at Disney. The staff was nice. Rooms were comfortable and clean and the vibe of the hotel and guests was great. We totally would stay there again if we went back.

No. Not at all. The rooms are very peaceful. We couldn’t even hear the music they played in the pool area from our room.

I agree, there's no noise. The resorts are separated from the parks by a lagoon & trees, foliage, etc. Even though you're close, it doesn't feel like it.

We stayed at Portofino and Hard Rock and loved Hard Rock much more! So close to the parks and a great hotel! Music at the pool was great! Rooms were great. If you do concierge it is just ok. Disney blows them away in that dept. We are hoping to get there this year again!

We stayed at the Hard Rock, Club Level. We could hop on the boat and be at the park in a few minutes, the pool is busy, but really nice and they have movies in the pool at night. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

It’s been a while but we’ve too stayed at the Hard Rock and loved it.
When we looked the last trip the rates were high, like higher than the Four Seasons per night! I don’t know if it was a week they did a big corporate event so remaining rooms were crazy high or if the new Harry Potter stuff at Universal has driven thevorices up that high? For our upcoming trip it looks like they are sold out. We aren’t even picking popular times. We’d love to stay there again.

Is the pool deep enough to swim?

We just stayed at the Royal Pacific in August. I would say it's boring. So boring in fact, that I can't even remember much about it. I don't even remember the pool area although I'm sure that's where we spent most of our time.
I remember boat service being nice and there were a couple of decent restaurants. However, every time we passed the Hard Rock, I remember thinking "I wish we were staying there".

Is the pool deep enough to swim? Yes, to swim, not to dive. The onsite restaurant is excellent also- we had one dinner and one breakfast there and it was terrific. We never had issues with noise from the parks or the pool either.

We've stayed at the Royal Pacific several times. We've looked at the others but always come back to Royal Pacific. It has a lovely relaxed feel to it. The pool area is beautiful and again very relaxing. We had a great meal by the pool one night and the kids loved sitting out in the pool watching movies. I loved having the option of walk or boat to the parks. It's the closest resort to the parks and the walk is lovely. Again, we've looked at the others for our stay in December, but we've made the decision to come back to the Royal Pacific.

The rooms are all newly redone with big flowers on the walls. I don’t think it is closest, but it is an easy walk or boat ride.
