I think it looks great and is more in style with people of his age than a ring of hair around his head. Lord knows we Americans have no room to talk about a male national figure's hairstyle

how else would he deal with balding?
my DH shaves his head similar to this
does it look bad just on him - or on all men that are balding
i seriously don't get why people post criticizing the way other people look

I like it. It’s straightforward and clean. I hate combovers and toups, which fool nobody. It does make him look younger.

Yup. My balding dh also cuts his hair like this. The more he loses the shorter it gets. He's been talking for a few years about shaving it all off, but hasn't pulled the trigger on it. It's got a lot more upkeep than just cutting it short.

My husband has the same haircut when he lets his grow out. I actually prefer it totally shaved bald, but DH gets lazy and doesn't like to do it more than once every 2 weeks.
Embracing the bald is a must. The transition is hard though. I've seen pics of when DH transitioned to shaving his head (before we met), and the skin where his hair was was lighter from no UV exposure! So it takes some time to get it the way you want it and where the skin on your head looks decent. He needs some cool glasses or something to offset it.

it's a big change, but my opinion is 'good for him.' Prince William is a distinguished-looking gentleman no matter what his hairstyle.
My BF has had thinnning hair on top since he was in his mid-20s (he's 47 now), and in my opinion, it really does look better when the person just 'embraces' the change and cuts it off instead of trying to keep it longer on top to cover up what's happening.
ETA: my boyfriend always looks a bit like a just-shorn sheep right after he buzz-cuts his hair, but it looks better when it grows out a day or two. Prince Williams will probably look a bit more natural with this haircut in a week or so.

I am a big fan of shaved head or a buzz cut for men who are going bald. Comb overs or a long fringe are such a turn off. I think he looks much better with the new do.

I think it must be a personal preference- either you find balding / bald men attractive, or you don't; like facial hair, or anything else that people either find attractive or unattractive. Personally, I find Patrick Stewart pretty darn hot, so Prince William's new hair doesn't make him any less attractive to me, at all.

Is this a for real thing to comment on? The dude is balding. He can’t do anything about it.

I think he looks great. I'm not sure what the fuss is about. Dude is balding. A little duck fuzz in the middle of his head wasn't hiding that. Hope he likes his new 'do.

I see nothing wrong with it. Lots of men do that here, including my brother in law, who's hairstyle looks practically identical.

I like it. My DH has pretty much the same haircut for the same reason. I think it makes him look younger. He's balding, he couldn't really hide that fact anymore, may as well embrace it. That’s my Dh too 🙂 Mine too! Who knew it would be trendy

I'm a fan. But I'm biased because DH did this last year and he looks awesome. We tried in vain to get FIL to do it too over break but he chickened out. Loves his comb-over.

I like it! If I was a balding guy, I think I'd just go super short or shave it off.

At a speech about Brexit: W/new do: I like the new one. I actually prefer him with the first look. I also think there's a lot of difference between comb-overs and shaving, and it's okay to be somewhere in the middle ground. You don't have to shave or buzz it all off to have a decent haircut when you're balding. And yes, there are lots of attractive bald(ing) guys. I do find it weird when a guy totally shaves his head and then grows a heavy bushy beard. Such a huge contrast isn't always a good look. Just my personal opinions. He should, like anyone else, do what he wants with his hair.

My husband was going bald, and then all the hair grew back in.
When his back crap is better he is going for a really good exam. It isn't normal for hair to grow back.

It's got to totally suck that the smallest decision you make in your life has to be discussed publicly by the entire planet.

I like it. My partner’s hair is pretty similar to that. I wonder how often he’ll get it cut though as apparently he paid £180 for the cut! My partner does his own for nothing!

He looks much younger with the shorter hair. It also doesn’t emphasize the bald as much. There is something about the longer hair bulk against the bald that makes the bald look even more bald.

Most of the guys I know who are balding shave it close like that. I think it's fine. Better that than a trumpian comb-over/squirrel nest.
