Just curious, have you ever had anything happen to your pizza on the way home? Have you ever been inclined to use Domino's Carryout Insurance? The whole thing kinda cracks me up. I suppose I would not be laughing if something bad happened to my pizza, but I live rurally and have done carry out for 20 years and have never had anything bad happen to my pizza on the way home. (Now karma will get me and my next order will be destroyed lol)

I wonder how much it is and if it covers slices missing when you send your college kid to pick it up?

Every time I see this commercial I cringe. I don’t like seeing the car destroyed. It’s gimmicky for Domino’s since they already offer the completely satisfied refund or remake offer on pies.
Many years ago I had pizza fails with cheese being stuck to top of box or the toppings all slid to one side. I rarely do take out except for Dewey’s. I prefer delivery since they have thermal bags to keep warm. The water bottle trick does work for pick ups and I always seem to have one in my car when driving so I place it laying on the seat and put pizzas on top. My husband’s car has a cool foldable square in the trunk that he puts pizzas in.

The idea of paying for insurance for something that only cost $5.99 in the first place is silly to me.

I wonder how much it is and if it covers slices missing when you send your college kid to pick it up? They actually have in fine print it can’t be half eaten and it has to be returned within 2 hours. I have to laugh because years ago I worked at Domino’s in HS and we had a delivery guy that did this! Can you believe it? He was of course fired after numerous reports. He would take one slice out and shove it back together. What is crazy is we always had extra pies that were remakes or the driver went and no one answered. They were given to employees. Weird.

Does it cover dogs eating the pizza while (kids were there but not paying attention) in the backseat? Happened to a friend on her way home from the pizza place.

The idea of paying for insurance for something that only cost $5.99 in the first place is silly to me. there is no cost to the customer...its just something that they are offering as kind of a gimmick I guess. Like the above poster said, they already have a 100% satisfaction guarantee so it really isn't anything new...just something they are making a point of I guess.

Other than getting it home and it's not my pizza?
No, it's a silly gimmick.

I worked for Little Caesar's back when you got 2 pizzas on a board in a bag. We had a guy come in and complain to the manager once because his car got all messes up when he had to stop quickly and the pizzas somehow came out of the bag. I guess thar might count for Dominoes insurance thing.
We rarely do take out, so I'd probably never use it, but you never know.

Are they saying pizza insurance is included as a gimmick, or is it something you actually add-on and pay for? I haven't seen the commercial.

I just have issues with the commercial itself. A tree falls on the guy's car in the driveway. Sooooo how did he get back to the store? He's blocking the garage/driveway with the crushed car and fallen tree, so even if there is another car there, you can't use it. It doesn't show another car on the street. Does a neighbor have to drive him back to the store? I NEED to know! These are the things I ponder.

bbkeef in the commercial, his pizza is fine! so he's covered but if it wasn't maybe he could call the store and have the delivery guy bring him a new one

caspad his pizza is fine until he slips on the icy sidewalk, then cut to the next scene and he's at a Domino's picking up a new pizza.

I have never had anything happen to my pizza on its way home (except maybe get cold) and even if something happened (like I dropped it or something), I would just go "Dog gone it!!" and throw it away, no big deal, it is only pizza

the way i see it is that the only difference between their carryout insurance and their satisfaction guarantee is that you can return a partially eaten one with the satisfaction guarantee right? the carryout has to be fully intact. i don't really know since i hate pizza and haven't eaten Dominoes in over 20 years.

I just remembered my husband actually did have a mishap bringing home a pizza this past year. Someone cut him off and slammed on their brakes, and the pizza box on the passenger seat went flying. He salvaged only half of the pizza that was still partially in the box so the kids could at least eat. So things do happen!

So I was actually this close to returning a tree this year to Costco. I called to let them know it was our second tree that just stopped drinking water a week in. I was just hoping he could pass the info on and maybe get better trees next year. The manager said they had tons of complaints this year, and to just bring it back for a refund. I said the dead whole tree? Yes! Just bring it! I said well Christmas is in 2 days and I don't have the time to take it down, but a replacement, and redecorate in time. He said bring it after, it's fine! We almost did it! He made it sound like no big deal. But oh am I glad we just didn't want to deal with the hassle because I'd have gone viral I'm sure. Lol

Lol i think the christmas tree industry as a whole had a ton of complaints this year. even my tree was not as good as previous years. it just made me laugh when this lady's return did go viral because it never amazes me what people return to Costco. we once stood behind a man who tried to return a really beat up dust pan and broom set EXCEPT he didn't have the dustpan with him. they wouldn't let him return it because it was incomplete (not because it was beat to hell). good for Costco on that one.

Assume he called a friend and let's move on to my issue- when he gets out of the car, where in tarnation is he walking to?? Is the front door not on the front of the house, accessible from the driveway? This perplexes me.

When DH was a kid he was staying with his grandma in the San Juans (remote islands in Wa). He said that his grandma bought him a pizza in town, as a treat and they drove back to her house to eat it. He was trying to be funny so he carried the pizza box out of the car and promptly turned the box vertically to carry it into the house.. The pizza slid out of the box onto the driveway. DH felt terrible but his very amazing grandma reassured him it was ok, they put the pizza back in the box and picked the rocks and twigs off of it and ate it anyway!
I don’t know if he has seen the Dominoes commercial but I will have to pont it out to him the next time it is on!
