I'm just doing some strip on the top and sides of my hair. Someone suggested using foil to keep those pieces from getting on my other hair. Would regular foil work or should it be specifically the kind from the places like sallys?

At the salon I go to, they use Reynolds Foil Sheets, like you could wrap a sandwich in. I don't think there is anything special about the foil.

The stuff at the salon is regular foil, just cut into lengths and strips to make it easier for the person doing colour.

I also think regular would be just fine...the thinner type though, not the heavy duty. I know the foil sheets are thinner than the heavy duty foil (we have some of both in our pantry right now.)

Thanks peas. Never did my own before so wasn't sure. Last night I did the underneath section of my hair a different color. Now I want to add some face framing streaks in

"Yes it is regular foil. The only difference is the stuff you buy at sallys is pre cut.

Yup my salon uses foil from Smart & Final - bulk so it's already in easy to use squares.

I use regular foil and just flatten it out. That way it is easier to work with. I precut while I am prepping everything because trying to handle it with gloves on is hard.
Also I read online that some people put conditioner on the pieces they do not want to color to protect them. I do not know how well this works. What ever you do, don't put something thick like Vaseline.
