I got my machine on Friday and spent time getting acquainted with it that day and Saturday. It does depend on the stamp. I may still end up buying a few matching dies for very detailed stamps (like Heartfelt Creations), but I think this machine does a pretty decent job of cutting out stamped images (which is the only reason I bought it...I also have a Cameo and an Explore Air 2, so I don't need the SNC for anything else). I did not get quite as good results when trying to cut inside and out of the same image (not posted), but this is one example of how detailed it can cut:

Oh, and color of ink can make a difference, too. The light green would not cut correctly without a slight border, but stamped in black it did.

All of the stamped images in my previous two pictures and this photo are Heartfelt Creations stamps. I love their stamps, but the matching dies are $30 for each stamp set. I had just taken a couple of classes from them and came home with 6 new stamp sets, but to buy the matching dies would have added up to half the cost of the machine. I especially love their stamps for making 3D flowers. They have come out with molds to help crafters shape their flowers more quickly, too. Anyway, here are samples of the 3D flowers I made on Saturday. The machine did a great job of cutting out the flower parts, and they cut them cleanly, with no accidental border on one edge as can happen sometimes when using dies to cut them out. I can't be the only stamper who sometimes has difficulty getting matching dies to line up perfectly. They have staff that spend all their time stamping and cutting out the items needed for class kits, and a few of my kit pieces weren't lined up perfectly, either. The SNC cut out my stamped flower parts perfectly.

You can also set it to cut out the insides of the curled vines.

Since reading posts on here this weekend, and watching the Creativation 2018 videos of it, I have been thinking non-stop about the Scan-n-Cut. I've signed up for the newsletter on the Brother website and they sent me a 15% off coupon. I'm so tempted...I'm just trying to justify spending the money. I did get a bonus recently...and my husband just spent a ton on personal training so it's only fair...and I can sell my old iPhone and get a few hundred $$...
Ugh, I want one so badly now. I'm so impressed with the cuts, thank you for posting photos!

You can also set it to cut out the insides of the curled vines. Yes, I saw Julie's video and tried it, but it cut it too thin, and it broke coming off the mat. I noticed that what Julie cut inside and out was much thicker than what I was cutting. lisadv, I didn't really have the space for it, either. I'll have to find a way to make space for it. Thanks, grammadee, and everyone. I'm really having fun with both the 3D flower making and the Scan N Cut.

Amazing...have you used it to cut out paper lines cut aparts? I have dreams of no more fussy cutting...and wonder if this would save on having to buy die cut collections....

Great info. Curious if you ever tried the Silhouette pixscan mat? I've used it a couple times with my Portrait and like the results, however, I didn't use any real fussy cut type images.

woodysbetty, I have not tried the cut aparts, but as long as there is a well defined outside line on each image, they would probably cut fine. Distressed designs would not be likely to cut well.
papergoddess, I have tried the Pixscan mat. It has more steps to go through, and even though I have a new phone with a really good camera, I often get a message that the photo is not good enough to use. The lighting in my house is energy efficient, which means it is also less bright. I have to take the picture of my stamped images on a bright, sunshiny day, in the morning, with the mat positioned in the square of light coming in the sunny window. One day I finally had to go outside and place it on the driveway before I could get a picture that was acceptable to the software. I don't always have sunny days, and I am more likely to craft in the evening, when the light is not good enough for the picture. The process was aggravating and inconvenient. I love my Silhouette for most things, and when I get a good enough image, the Pixscan works well. Unfortunately, the difficulty in getting a good enough image made me dread using the PixScan. With the Scan N Cut, I stick my stamped images to the SNC mat, load it in, and push the right buttons. Sometimes I have to play around with the settings a little, but it is still easier and faster than using the PixScan mat IMO. For those stamped designs that are too detailed for the Scan N Cut, I may still resort to the PixScan or matching dies.

How do you find the screen scrapnnana? Is it easy to judge how accurate/good the cut is so you can decide whether to redo it?

That is one great cutting machine. I would love to use more of my stamped images on layouts but like most people I hate trying to fussy cut them. I’m definitely going to think about this.

How do you find the screen scrapnnana ? Is it easy to judge how accurate/good the cut is so you can decide whether to redo it? You can zoom in to see close up. I have not tried to see how it works with the computer yet, so I assume that could make it easier to see what you are doing, but the small screen works all right.

I don't think I've ever had trouble with the image, but that is good information. I agree it is a little timely with the steps, which is why I don't use it too often. I try to do a bulk cutting, I'll stamp a bunch of images (generally to color) and cut them out at once. Thanks for the info on the SNC.

Thank you, amayalylac. Yes, we have both debated about this machine for awhile, but you are the one who started me thinking seriously about it. I love stamps and frequently use them when I scrapbook and make cards. I could have kept using the PixScan mat with my Cameo, but I really dislike the PixScan process. It works, but it requires more effort than I want to spend. If I were limited to only one electronic cutter, it would still be the Cameo. The Scan N Cut, however, is a great machine for avid stampers, and I had saved up enough for it. I also managed to make a spot in my craft room for it. Last week I met several gals who belonged to a large stamp club. They were all familiar with the Scan N Cut. They had never even heard of Silhouette.
