Hi all! I was out of town when Two Peas imploded and didn't find out til I was sitting in the Tampa airport waiting to come home. AN sent me a message on FB about it! So here I am at the new site. I was in tampa for a ballroom competition. This was a huge comp so for me it was more about seeing the other dancers and having fun. I got some dances filmed. This first link has the Cha Cha, Rumba and Swing: ChaCha, Rumba, SwingThis link has the Mambo: MamboMy teacher is my partner in all of the dances. Had a great time!

You are so good!! I'm envious of your talent. Love the dress too. It looks like you really have a passion for it.

Thanks everyone!
I've been taking lessons once a week for 45 minutes for about 5 or 6 years. This was the first really big comp I've been too and the first in the Silver Category (you start in Bronze, then Silver, then Gold eventually). I exceeded my goals for the comp - which was to make a final from a semi-final. I made 5 finals so I was thrilled. I also got 4 3rd places which was over and above what I thought I would do.
My teacher is now traveling for a few weeks so he won't see the videos for awhile. Then we'll start picking it apart and fixing all the mistakes! LOL

Awesome! Beautiful dancing. May I ask how old you are or what range you fall into 20-30, 30-40, 40-50 years old? Always thought I'd like to ball room dance, but too old to learn.

Samantha - I'm 43. It's never to late to learn. Some of the best dancers I know are in their 60s and there was a lady probably in her 70s at this comp having the time of her life!

That was really fun to watch. Your dress was beautiful and you looked so good out there. You two were really enjoyable to watch.
I did notice one thing though, and it must be both difficult and frustrating. It looked like you two were dancing away when another couple just kinda pushed into your spot. Are there no rules as to staying somewhat in your own dance area? I would think you would draw for spots or something.
