I love embroidering/beading on felt to make ornaments and gift toppers, things like that. I see such cute things on pinterest that have little scalloped edges, perforations, etc. that look too perfect to be cut by hand. I've never had a die cutting machine, nor have I ever wanted one, but I would love to get one if there is one you can cut felt with.
Have you done this and have something you recommend?

A Big Shot will cut felt. I've done it many times with nice results.

Thank you!! I am going to order one from Amazon! If you have a Tuesday Morning near you, someone on the General Scrapping board said they had the Big Shot there for $49.95 which is a crazy good price. Worth a look if there’s a store near you.

Slight hijack...but pretty please, can you post pictures of your beading/embroidery? This is something I want to start doing and I would love to see some examples.

Check with your library- they may have something similar that you can use for free.

I'd recommend a Big Shot as well. As for the dies to cut the shapes, steel rule dies generally work the best. They are the thick dies, like the ones Sizzix sells. Wafer thin dies will work with felt like these dies, but you have to watch what kind of felt you use. The 8 1/2 x 11" craft sheets that you can buy at the craft store generally have too high of a synthetic fiber content to cut well, although you many find some that do. However, if you use felt that has higher wool content, I've had great luck with that. JoAnn's sells a 45" felt by the yard that works well, and the felt from PaperTrey Ink cuts like a dream.

Taylored Expressions sells 100% wool felt too that cuts really well with thin dies.

Yep Big Shot works great for felt. I have a lot of Papertrey Ink dies that cut wool felt really well.

You can also buy very reasonably priced thin dies on ebay. They are from China, and truthfully, I've never purchased any of them, but I have seen them for insanely cheap prices compared to what I have spent on the name brand dies.
I have some of the original Sizzix dies that they made with perforations on them that I can't stand. I gave away a lot of them on the old board. I haven't packed that section of my craft room up yet, but as I go through it, if I find any of that type of die that would lend itself to felt cutting, I can photograph them and you can take a look to see if you want them. I would only ask that you pay the shipping if you do want them. These would be the thicker Sizzix original dies.

I'm not the person you asked, but I was making some felty things (gift card holders) that I embroidered and whatnot. It stuck some of them on pinterest one day back in the day if you are interested. (there are also some beaded/embroidered other things if you are interested) ((I always cut by hand though-with felt I tend to use wax paper to stabilize and draw designs on , then cut by hand))
