I just ran across the Kiwi Lane site and video - looks kind of fun, especially for building up those layers. Wondered if anyone used these, or made their own style of them?

I have tried them once or twice. I thought they would speed up my scrapping process since I am a very slow scrapper. I only have two sets of the Kiwi Lane templates, because I didn't like a lot of their designs, so I just bought the two I liked and made some of my own templates for designing a layered page. I cut the homemade ones from stencil plastic and used my Cameo. My homemade templates are not as heavy as the Kiwi Lane, which are a very high quality, but they work okay.
I have only had the Kiwi Lane templates since June, and my homemade versions since July. I haven't had a lot of time to scrapbook. I think I have used the Kiwi Lane templates once or twice is all, so at this point, I am glad that I didn't buy more templates from Kiwi Lane. I liked the results, but you need at least 3 to 5 different patterned papers that all go together well, and that is not always easy to do. The LSS closed. We have a stamp store and a paper arts store, but they have a limited selection of papers.
I do like the concept, but due to the difficulty of finding enough coordinating papers to go with my photos, I haven't used them nearly as much as I thought I would. They DID speed up the page design process for the first page I did, but I loved the coordinating papers I used, and the papers worked perfectly with my pictures.

I've used them. I saw a demo at the Scrap Expo last year, and it was before I had a Silhouette. They are of good quality and when you lay them over paper or photos you can see through them. I found this really helpful when trying to determine whether something will fit somewhere or when I need to cut a photo down to a smaller size.

I use them and do enjoy them. It is not the only way I scrapbook but it is fun and fast and good for pages that use a lot of photos. This is my Kiwi lane Pin board of my own layouts. Dawn's Kiwi Lane Layouts

I swore I posted on this thread earlier.. Weird. But yes I have a set and some homemade ones. I also have their book. I love it for using some of my old pattern papers.. I actually have used up a bit of it by using their templates. A friend of mine has a bunch of them.. so I borrow hers from time to time. (I did trace a few of them on card stock for my own templates.) I don't use them all the time cause I don't want every page to have that 'same' look... but here and there and I love the results!

I have never seen it before either. Thanks for bringing this subject.
I decided to post a link to their video here so whoever, just like me, doesn't know what it is...

I own quite a few KLD sets, and certainly do not use them on all the pages I do, because to me, there is a 'sameness' about them. This was the last two-page LO I made with them:

Very interesting. I've made basic shape out of different colored card stock to help with layering and placement in the past. It did help especially when trying to maximize your paper. So I can see the value of their system and I like the different shapes.

Thank you to those who shared their layouts! I enjoyed seeing how you used the templates. I'm going to the Expo on Saturday. I'll have to look for them. Always in the market for a way to spend my money new way to scrap.

I use them..swear by them...increased my scrapbooking speed immensely and helps me use up so much paper. I am a sketcher so I just see my kiwi lane templates as movable sketches. They work great for me!

I used them when Hazel & Ruby did a blog hop with them this summer. They are easy to use and will end up using them once in awhile when I have scrapper's block My project was a gift bag that was featured on the NASDAQ Billboard in Time Square when Michaels Stores issued its IPO...my 15 min of fame! LOL!!

Check out the Bella Blvd blog this week because they are showing ideas with Kiwi Designs. And no I am not affiliated with either company, just like BB's stuff.

I saw them in Buffalo this summer. Went with 3 friends and we all got different templates. Really does speed up my scrapping and I like the look.

I haven't but they remind me of the Pages by Design templates by Delixe Designs - I picked up a complete set for a song when they were going out of business - haven't played with them in a while but you're inspiring me to do so

I like their Brackets sets. They are versatile and the bracket shapes are easy to cut out. The large ones are good for a border and I like to use the smaller ones for tucking behind a photo as a journaling spot or for an embellishment.

If you are thinking of getting them, I suggest you start small and see if you really use them. In my post in this thread of a couple of years ago, I mentioned that I bought a couple of sets. Then I made my own based on Silhouette designs and cut them from stencil plastic. I used them to design and make a page and was happy with the results, but I have never used them again since. I am glad that I never spent a fortune on buying more sets.
What I did not word well enough in my earlier post to be clear is that the Kiwi Lane templates are a much higher quality than those cut from stencil plastic.
I did like that they (the Kiwi Lane templates, as well as those that I cut from stencil material) helped me create a very fast layout. I used the templates only for design work. I did not trace and cut anything by hand, the way you do with the Kiwi Lane. I used my electronic cutter.

I love my templates! I use other materials too, but the borders make it so easy to visualize and layer papers...perfect for this girl with a large paper collection!!

This is an old post! But I've had my templates for years, just signed up as an instructor since I really do love them. They offer a lot more than they used to with lots of fun extras now. I recently went to a retreat and took my templates and paper, and not much else. I worked for four days with those templates and never got bored! That's what convinced me I needed to sign up! Let me know if I can answer any questions. I have tons of blog posts showing my layouts: just search Kiwi Lane and tons will pop up: 3monkeysthrowingaroundsomepaper.blogspot.comor if I can assist in any way: create.kiwilane.com/kiwilanebymichellemcgraw
