Let's goooooooooooooo PATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eagles fans are the worst and make it so easy to hate the Eagles. Plus...that whole E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles cheer? It is cute that the Eagles fans want every one to realize that they know how to spell. It's really quite funny. It's a whole fight song and it sounded awesome when you could hear it throughout the city from the stadium after the last game. DS had just moved to Philly as a college freshmen when the Phillies won the World Series. He spent the whole night out on Broad Street celebrating. He will be doing the same tonight if they win. No burning or looting, just celebrating. I know that there are some Eagles fans who are total boors. But having gone to enough sporting events, college and professional, over the years, those fans are at every game and for every team. The booing Santa story is still the hallmark of of how bad the Eagles fans are and that happened 40 years ago. There are many stories from this year as well. There were several stories of Vikings fans who were treated extremely poorly and threatened while in Philly. If you search “Vikings fan in Philly” you will find a bunch of news stories. The reputation is not because of something that happened 40 years ago.

Eagles fans are boorish thugs, the Patriot players are cheaters (plus their management are Trump friends), and the NFL as a whole is corrupt as hell, so yeah, the only good thing about this year's Super Bowl is that they all had to freeze their asses off in the Minnesota winter.

But there were also videos of Eagles fans being friendly and welcoming at that same game. My point was that this crap happens at other stadiums too but you don't hear as much about it. And everytime you see complaints about Philly fans, the Santa incident is brought up as proof of how bad they are. ETA and I just realized my math game was not on point. The Santa incident was 50 years ago.

the Santa incident is brought up as proof of how bad they are. I have never even heard of the Santa story before this thread. I have personally experienced Eagles fans and they are awful. Now Saints fans OTOH are a blast!

Now Saints fans OTOH are a blast! It was all part of the background years ago when Sarah Palin taunted and dared fans to boo her daughter like they did to Santa Claus while she was on a radio show. Then she got upset when she brought the child to a game and they did, indeed, boo her. I think it was a Flyers game though.

I also know that it's a long, cold walk in 1 degree temperatures from the various lots and a long, cold wait if you're taking the rail.

Thanks for that craftykitten. I thought it would have been so disrespectful to him to do so. He would have had no issue with someone covering his songs though, as he did many covers. they had a video of Prince on a giant screen- I think they went extra effort to make it look like a screen because it was wavy & wrinkly. Kinda weird effect. But I did like that they turned the city purple

But I would hate to see his religious beliefs disrespected.

I don't care which team wins this game. I think the team with the best theme songs should always go to the Super Bowl, lol. The San Diego Chargers had the BEST theme song!

Yes and in that vein, pro teams ought to have their own marching bands. Seriously one of the best parts of college football is the halftime show.

My understanding from reading articles from the newspaper was that the poor treatment was not just at the game or by a small number of people. I have never heard of the Santa story, either. I just read the recent articles in the paper and have since heard that the Eagles fans have a reputation for being nasty, not just during the Vikings game. My DS, nephew, and 70-year-old mother went to the Vikings/Eagles games. DS said they were told to "F*** off" and given the finger over 100 times on the walk from their drop off into the stadium. My mother was told to "Get the f*** back to MN." They had to leave early because they feared for their safety after the abuse they took during the game. I can find numerous stories like theirs. That's not how fans for other teams act.

Eagles still ahead, but I don't have a lot of hope they will win. The Patriots have pulled off way too many comebacks.

Try not to hold it against them, it's a Filthadelphia tradition in each and every Philly sport You'd be that way too if you were stuck there with nothing to eat but WaWa HOAgies and cheese whiz cheese steaks and shoo-fly pie and the country's oldest sewer system and a good, safe, fun part of town where you can walk after dusk in that's approximately 3 blocks square I know because...I live it (not really, I'm well north, these are just my totally judgmental observations)

It was DS's first time there, and he still had fun. He won't need therapy.
