I'm looking for a hotel chain that offers a two bedroom suite.
I'm planning a trip for us to take my mother to Charleston. I'm looking for a reasonably priced hotel - at this point any hotel - with a two bedroom suite. I'm surprised that I can't find anything. It would seem to me that people like us traveling with a parent or people with children, particularly older children would love to have a room with a common area and two bedrooms together rather than booking two separate rooms.
Mother isn't to a point yet where she needs me to keep an eye on her all the time but what I'd like about it is a small sitting area separate from the bedrooms. If you do two regular rooms, you still have no where for the one person who gets up at midnight (DH) because he can't sleep to go.
When DH and I travel, we usually find a condo and if it was just us, I'd look towards the beach locations around Charleston but most of what we want to do with her is near the city so I hate to spend all our time driving back and forth to a condo at the beach.
Are there hotel chains that typically have such accommodations?

Does 2 connecting rooms not work? Not sure if which is more cost effective but it seems connecting rooms would be more available.

How about a Residence Inn or other extended stay type of chain?

Residence Inn for sure. We visit one in Florida when we take my MIL with us. She has her own space and so do we. Works out great!

Residence Inn by Marriott has 2 bedroom suites with kitchen and living room!
Some of the other suite hotels only have 1 bedroom with living room and pull out couch which would not work well for your situation.

Check vrbo and Airbnb for apartments/flats in the city. We find it’s usually cheaper with more room than 2 hotel rooms or a suite.

2 bedroom suites are hard to come by. It's much easier to find a one bedroom with two beds and a separate sitting area. I have a family of five, and this is what we nearly always end up with if we stay in a hotel. I usually do a preliminary search on Hotels.com, so I can enter specific search criteria across several hotel brands at once, but I usually end up booking directly through the hotel website.
HAve you looked at Airbnb? I'd think you could find some kind of rental that would better suit your needs that's not a beach condo.

Thank you all. The Residence Inn near Charleston has a very good rating and a 2 bedroom suite option that would work for us. We need a generous cancellation policy as so many things can come up when traveling with an older adult which is why I'm staying away from B&B's and private homes.

We have stayed at Homewood Suites in regular 1 bedrooms before. Hyatt House in Charleston has a 2 bedroom suite but not available during the time I'm looking at right now.

We always stay at Staybridge Suites. 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Husband snores so loud so we need separate sleeping space. He also needs longer in the bathroom after colon surgery a few years ago so the extra bathroom is nice. Staybridge also offers a buffet breakfast so one less meal to worry about. It isn't a huge spread, but always waffles, eggs, a breakfast meat, bagels/toast, fruit, cereals. We have stayed there twice now and it has been a very pleasant stay. I just booked Staybridge in Anaheim over spring break since my daughter asked to go to Disneyland for her senior trip.

My mother and I stayed at a Homewood Suites and it was just what you’re looking for...two bedrooms with a sitting room and a tiny kitchenette in the middle. They also have an included breakfast buffet each morning and a manager’s reception or some such each evening with beer, wine and some finger foods.

We always used rooms with connecting doors. We have two boys and I enjoyed that they had their space (tv, bathrooms, and room to toss clothes all over).

SaveSaveI am. I usually start with Trivago and go from there. The challenge is that you can't put in a 2 room suite as one of the criteria.

This doesn't give me what I want as there is no living area. DH gets up in the middle of the night, all he has is usually a side chair, maybe a sofa if we are lucky but if he turns on a light, he wakes me up. Also the doors connect you into each others bedrooms so it isn't very private when traveling with my Mother.

I would look for a B and B , especially in a place like charleston. I was thinking along the same lines. When we were planning our destination wedding and looking at Charleston, there were hundreds of AirB&Bs available. If you are specifically looking for a hotel, I'd look at Homewood, Hampton Inn, SpringHill, Residence Inn, or Embassy Suites. In all of our soccer journeys, almost all of these offer a two room suite option, some of which are actually two rooms and a common area. SaveSave

We have always used Marriott Residence Inn or Hyatt House. Both are similar though sometimes the rates are better with Hyatt House. We stayed in Staybridge Suites in California and we liked it alot. We get the 2 bedroom suite and each room has their own bathroom and the kitchen/dining/living room is in the middle.

Homewood Suites often has 2 bedroom suites. and another option might be a vacation club room, Such as marriott or Hilton vacation clubs. They are typically marketed as Timeshares, but, I've stayed at them and used Hilton and MArriott points for stays.

Don't know if they have a Hyatt House in that area, but we've stayed in 2 BR suites there, and we just loved the room, and the whole hotel. Good luck!

I know the French Quarter Inn has suites with sitting areas, but only one bedroom (two queens).
Looks like Embassy Suites Charleston - Historic Charleston SC has two bedroom suite with sitting area.
