I don’t know if Cheri still comes here, but today is Kaitlyn’s birthday. I try to post on FB in her memory each year in hopes of stopping someone else from making a tragic mistake. www.kaitlynspromise.com/

I so remember when this happened. I talked to my HS students at that time about the dangers of dusting.

Such a tragedy, but I so admire Cheri for what she has done for drug/alcohol abuse awareness in our area. The year after Kaitlyn passed, Cheri hosted a one day crop at a local church. All proceeds went towards a scholarship awarded to a local high school student who had faced adversity and turned their life around. The support for the crop was enormous and she was encouraged to host another one the following year. Fast forward to now. The annual crop for Kaitlyn's promise has increased in size from less than 40 people to 200 this year. This year's 3-Day crop sold out in less that 24 hours, and has a waiting list. She has gone from awarding one scholarship to giving out three last year. The courage and grace she shows in working so tirelessly to bring awareness to the community about these issues is nothing short of amazing. The fact that she does so with a broken heart is a miracle. In honor of Kaitlyn's birthday today, talk to the young people in your life and make them aware of the dangers out there. But most importantly, hug them like there is no tomorrow because there are no guarantees that there will be one.

I share her story to teenagers and children often. Cheri is a brave and fearless mother who never wants another mom to suffer the way that she did.

She would have been 28 today. I am sure it is hard day for Cheri.

I had a conversation with 10 year old about dusting and huffing just a couple days ago. I didn’t share Kaitlyn’s story but I will when she’s a bit older.

My thoughts go out to Cheri, her family, and every one that Kaitlyn touched, on this day...and every day. I can remember that time on the board so well. The sadness of having to see a family go through such trauma and tragedy was heartbreaking.
While the inderlying sadness is still there...the respect for all the work and effort that Cheri puts into helping others and bringing awareness for issues in Kaitlyn’s memory makes my heart soar. I think it is a true testament to the love and awesomeness that makes Cheri an incredible person.

This was before my time, but I know about it and I get it. I love this place. Mostly. More power to Cheri and the cause she espouses. May Kaitlyn's promise and memory be eternal. Peace.

This. <3 Cheri and I have a special bond, right around the time that Kaitlyn passed I had given birth to my preemie baby, and Cheri followed Dahlia's story and prayed for her to survive. She says that helped get her through her unbearable grief. We met some years after when she came to California, and it was wonderful to hug her. Happy birthday in heaven, dear Kaitlyn.

I saw that on Facebook and my thoughts and prayers are with Cheri and her family. I can't imagine the grief that she feels everyday of her life and yet she has turned it into something amazing and so helpful. Her strength blows me away. My Amazon Smile is set to Cheri's foundation. It's not much but it's the least I can do.
