Kyle Griffin...
“Robert Mueller has learned of two conversations in recent months in which Trump asked key witnesses about matters they discussed with investigators, three people familiar with the encounters tell NYT.”
I can’t decide if
a) trump is really that stupid. b) As trump the businessman he was use to getting his own way and assumes it applies now that he is president.
It really is amazing he has any lawyers willing to work for him, especially since he has been known to stiff those who do work for him.

Former Trump adviser Icahn denies knowing about new tariffs before stock sell-offBY LUIS SANCHEZ - 03/07/18 01:00 PM EST "We don't generally comment on rumors, but the recent media speculation regarding our sale of Manitowoc stock calls for a response. We state for the record: Any suggestion that we had prior knowledge of the Trump administration's announcement of new tariffs on steel imports is categorically untrue. We reduced our position in Manitowoc for legitimate investment reasons having nothing to do with that announcement," Icahn said in a statement obtained by CNBC. One week before Trump announced the tariffs, Icahn sold $31.3 million worth of stock in the Manitowoc Co., a manufacturer of construction cranes. Companies that manufacture steel products are expected to be negatively affected by the tariffs, which will drive up steel prices. After Trump’s announcement, Manitowoc’s stock fell to $26. Icahn sold nearly 940,00 Manitowoc shares at about $32 to $34 each, even though he hadn’t been actively trading in the company’s stock for three years. Trump asked senior aides to describe interviews with Mueller: report BY BRANDON CARTER AND MAX GREENWOOD - 03/07/18 07:08 PM EST
President Trump asked at least two witnesses interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller for information about what they discussed with Mueller’s team, according to The New York Times. Trump reportedly told White House counsel Don McGahn he should issue a statement denying a previous Times report that said Mueller’s team had learned the president once asked McGahn to fire Mueller. Trump also reportedly asked former chief of staff Reince Priebus during a December meeting how his interview with Mueller’s team had gone and if the investigators had been “nice.” Priebus, according to the Times, told Trump that they had conducted themselves professionally. thehill.com/homenews/administration/377303-trump-asked-senior-aides-to-describe-interviews-with-mueller-reportHere? Them? More here............. According to the Times, Porter told McGahn Trump had suggested he might “get rid of” McGahn if he didn’t issue the statement. Trump later confronted McGahn in the Oval Officer after he didn’t release a statement denying the Times report. During the meeting, which chief of staff John Kelly also attended, Trump told McGahn he ordered him to fire Mueller, people familiar with the meeting told the newspaper. The Times reports McGahn told Trump he was wrong, and that he did ask McGahn to see that Mueller was removed from his post. Trump reportedly said he did not remember the conversation that way. thehill.com/homenews/administration/377311-trump-considered-firing-wh-counsel-if-he-didnt-deny-threatening-to

Florida lawmakers pass gun legislation in response to Parkland shooting BY MAX GREENWOOD - 03/07/18 07:03 PM EST
Florida lawmakers on Wednesday approved a measure that would raise the minimum age for purchasing most firearms and devote millions of dollars to amping up school security, including training and arming school employees.
The compromise on new gun control measures came in response to a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., last month that left 17 people dead and more than a dozen others injured.
Lawmakers in the Florida House voted 67-50 to approve the legislation, which raises the minimum age to purchase rifles from 18 to 21 and imposes a three-day wait period for most purchases of those guns, The Associated Press reported.
The bill also creates new mental health programs for schools and aims to keep guns out of the hands of individuals who show signs of mental illness.
The legislation now goes to Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) to be signed.

“An actual Florida lawmaker: “We've been told to listen to children and do what they ask. Are there any children on this floor? Are they making laws? Do we allow children to tell us we should pass a law that says no homework? No. The adults make the laws."
Problem is a large part of the problems in this country stem from the “adults” making the laws or failing to do so. That being the case maybe it’s right that we do listen to the kids. Because right now they sound more “adult” that the woman lawmaker with her condescending remarks.

Trump upset with Sanders over Stormy Daniels responseBy Jim Acosta and Veronica Stracqualursi, CNN Updated 8:45 AM ET, Thu March 8, 2018 WH: Trump not aware of Stormy Daniels payment Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump is upset with White House press secretary Sarah Sanders over her responses Wednesday regarding his alleged affair with porn star Stormy Daniels, a source close to the White House tells CNN. Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, filed suit against Trump this week alleging he hadn't signed a nondisclosure agreement that would have prevented her from discussing their alleged sexual affair. On Wednesday, Sanders told reporters that the arbitration was won "in the President's favor." The statement is an admission that the nondisclosure agreement exists, and that it directly involves the President. It is the first time the White House has admitted the President was involved in any way with Daniels."POTUS is very unhappy," the source said. "Sarah gave the Stormy Daniels storyline steroids yesterday." Trump's personal lawyer has said the President "vehemently denies" any sexual encounter between the two. www.cnn.com/2018/03/08/politics/trump-sarah-sanders-stormy-daniels/index.htmlAh to bad!!

Baltimore mayor faces off with Laura Ingraham over gun protest march in heated exchangeBY AVERY ANAPOL - 03/08/18 09:13 AM EST Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh (D) butted heads with Fox News’s Laura Ingraham Wednesday night over Pugh’s decision to provide free buses to take students to the gun protest march in nearby Washington, D.C. later this month. Pugh announced earlier in the day that she would provide 60 buses in hopes of sending 3,000 students to the “March for Our Lives,” the rally organized by the survivors of the high school shooting in Parkland, Fla. Ingraham questioned why Pugh was funding the buses to “assist student activists” amid declining enrollment, personnel layoffs and a high deficit in the Baltimore public school system. Pugh pushed back, saying that the buses would partly be funded through private donations and would benefit both public and private school students. “You need to get your facts straight, love,” Pugh said to Ingraham. “I don’t know whether you’re trying to become the communications director for the Trump administration–“ “I don’t know why you’re getting personal, mayor,” Ingraham responded. more at link: thehill.com/homenews/media/377351-baltimore-mayor-faces-off-with-laura-ingraham-over-anti-gun-violence-march-inMore power to her! The tweet from Betsy DeVos in @zingermack 's post deserves to be shown here in all its simplistic glory:
Personally, I have to wonder about Ms. DeVos's own education - nay, her own intellectual development as an adult professional - if she's going to use such a clumsy, uninformed, broad brush example to generalize about what goes on in classrooms every day, and to support her claim that education has remained unchanged since the days of black and white photography.
(btw: those students in the "Now" picture look pretty engaged in what is obviously a class discussion, not a lecture. I wonder if Ms. DeVos is philosophically opposed to the benefits of learning how to enagage in a civil, moderated group discussion. Not a bad skill to have in this increasingly screen-driven, isolated world. It'd also come in handy at, say, a Cabinet meeting...)
Of course, the fact that this photo is obviously staged is a whole 'nother story. At the least, she really shouldn't use fake photos for her fake assertions.
An embarrassment of riches, that tweet is.

This kid is smart because trump blaming video games is nothing but a distraction. An attempt to make people feel something is being done.

Interesting ...from FOX news no less: even Fox thinks trump might be in troubleLate Monday afternoon, we were treated to a series of bizarre interviews on nearly every major cable television channel except Fox when a colorful character named Sam Nunberg, a former personal and political aide to Donald Trump, took to the airwaves to denounce a grand jury subpoena he received compelling the production of documents and live testimony. The grand jury is one of two summoned by special counsel Robert Mueller in his investigation of whether President Trump or his colleagues engaged in any criminal activity prior to or during the presidential campaign, or during his presidency. At several points in the rambling and seemingly alcohol-infused rant, Nunberg insisted he would not comply with the subpoena, and he challenged Mueller to force him to do so, proclaiming at least three times, “Let him arrest me!” I can tell you from my years on the bench in New Jersey, this is not a good gauntlet to lay down; and it is one often addressed swiftly. Be careful what you ask for. Here is the backstory: Nunberg is a 36-year-old New York lawyer who has been involved in conservative politics since his teenage years. He was hired by Trump in 2011 for the purpose of burnishing Trump’s image as a political conservative. Like most people hired by Trump before his presidential candidacy, Nunberg signed a contract that provided for liquidated damages of $10 million should he publicly reveal any private matters he learned about Trump during his employment. Trump did fire Nunberg in 2014 because of an unflattering op-ed that he believed Nunberg’s odd behavior had induced and sued Nunberg for $10 million. Nunberg counterclaimed that Trump was using corporate funds from the Trump Organization to fund his then-nascent presidential campaign, a potential felony. Soon, the litigation was dropped and Nunberg was rehired. And in 2015, he was fired again, in a very public and humiliating way by candidate Trump himself. Last month, Nunberg agreed to be interviewed by Mueller’s prosecutors and FBI agents. After the five-hour interview, he told friends and media folks that he discerned from the questions that Mueller has “something bad” on Trump. Nunberg thought his involvement with the special prosecutor was over when he received a grand jury subpoena and then reacted in a most unlawyerly fashion. In a series of bizarre interviews, former fired Trump aide Sam Nunberg spoke out against special counsel Robert Mueller, initially denying plans to cooperate with a subpoena. Here's a roundup of the most outlandish comments. Video Sam Nunberg's media blitz: A roundup of bizarre comments For a few reasons, this is not good news for the president. First, whatever Nunberg told the prosecutors and FBI agents who interviewed him last month, they revealed it to one of their grand juries; and they asked and received from the grand jury a subpoena compelling Nunberg to recount to the grand jury what he said in his interview. This is the same interview from which he claimed he learned that Mueller & Co. have “something bad” on Trump. The president’s lawyers would surely like to see whatever Mueller’s prosecutors told the grand jury Nunberg told them. So would we all. Second, during his rants on Monday, he opined that the president is an “idiot” who no one hates “more than me,” and that Mueller had offered him immunity in return for his testimony. Immunity? That is the highest and best gift a prosecutor can give a witness or target. If done in accordance with the rules, it bars all prosecution of the immunized person no matter what he admits to in testimony, unless he lies under oath. If Mueller did offer Nunberg immunity, it can only mean that Mueller desperately needs Nunberg’s testimony against the president to be recounted to one of his grand juries, and that Nunberg has some criminal exposure. At the end of his day of rage, Nunberg had a change of heart. I suspect it was induced by a compassionate on-camera plea to Nunberg by my Fox colleague Charles Gasparino, a friend of Nunberg who told him to talk to his lawyers and his doctors soon. After six hours of wild on-air gyrations and threats, Nunberg agreed to testify, Gasparino says. Nunberg’s doctors must have calmed him down, and his lawyers must have reminded him that the remedy for the persistent willful failure to comply with a grand jury subpoena is incarceration. That would mean incarceration for the life of the grand jury, which now seems as though it will be sitting well into 2019. His lawyers no doubt also reminded him that it is insane to taunt an alligator before crossing the stream. The FBI does not like being provoked. While all this was going on, the same grand jury subpoenaed all emails between or among Trump’s inner circle of 10 persons -- including the president himself. Given the roles each has played in Trump’s recent life, it is clear that the president remains in Mueller’s legal crosshairs. There are actually three sets of legal crosshairs, so to speak. One seeks to determine whether the Trump campaign received “anything of value” from any foreign national or foreign government, and whether Trump personally approved of it -- a felony. Another inquiry seeks to determine whether the president himself attempted to obstruct the work of the Mueller grand juries by firing then-FBI Director James Comey for a corrupt reason, one that is self-serving and lacking a bona fide governmental purpose -- also a felony. The third inquiry seeks to examine whether Trump misused or misrepresented corporate funds or bank loans in his pre-presidential life -- another felony. On this last point, he has already been accused by Nunberg; and the grand jury no doubt will hear about it. It has often been argued that out of the mouths of babes and drunks comes the truth, as both lack a filter and any moral fear. Is Nunberg dumb like a fox? Did he impeach himself? Would you believe Sam Nunberg?

Kyle Griffin.... “Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen is trying to silence Stormy Daniels, obtaining a secret restraining order in a private arbitration proceeding and warning that she faces penalties if she publicly discusses a relationship with Trump, NBC News has learned.” I didn’t even know one could get a “secret” restraining order. Weird, I was reading this just as it was on the news... trying to figure out how I was reading what I was hearing.... It’s a temporary restraining order. It can be petitioned for and granted with or without notifying the accused beforehand. Hence, “secret” and the arbitrator’s decision states “ ex parte,” which simply means “for one party” without the requirement of advance notice). After the temporary restraining order is granted, the accused (respondent/Stormy) is served with it and it’ll have the court date when both parties will get a hearing. If the accuser (claimant/Cohen's LLC) wins, he/she is granted a permanent restraining order. In the Trump-Stormy context, all this really means is a gag order to stop Stormy talking about the nondisclosure agreement she and Cohen signed until they get a hearing.

Trump partied with Russian oligarchs at Vegas nightclub shut down over ‘lewd’ acts involving women and urine: report TRAVIS GETTYS 08 MAR 2018 AT 10:53 ET Aras Agalarov and Donald Trump (Instagram) A bombshell new report suggests Donald Trump consummated a deal to hold his Miss Universe pageant in Moscow while hobnobbing with Russian oligarchs at a Las Vegas nightclub later shut down over lewd performances involving women and urine. The future president invited himself to dinner June 15, 2013, with Aras and Emin Agalarov and British publicist Rob Goldstone while presiding over the Miss USA contest his company owned at the time, reported Michael Isikoff and David Corn for Yahoo News and Mother Jones. The elder Agalarov is a real estate developer and businessman, like Trump, and Goldstone is the publicist for the Russian’s pop star son, and all three figure in the controversial June 9, 2016, Trump Tower meeting with Donald Trump Jr.** The group toasted to Trump’s 67th birthday the day before, and he affirmed his desire to do business with Emin. Trump announced the following night at the end of the Miss USA broadcast that he would hold the Miss Universe pageant in Russia, and he signed a contract with the Agalarovs in front of the audience. “Two days later Trump expressed his desire on Twitter to become Putin’s ‘new best friend,'” Isikoff and Corn reported. “Emin quickly responded with his own tweet: ‘Mr. @realdonaldtrump anyone you meet becomes your best friend — so I’m sure Mr. Putin will not be an exception in Moscow.'”www.rawstory.com/2018/03/trump-partied-russian-oligarchs-vegas-nightclub-shut-lewd-acts-involving-women-urine-report/As it states these are the same people in the DonJr/Kushner meeting June 2016, so dt knew them.

tiny hands Tweet “From Bush 1 to present, our Country has lost more than 55,000 factories, 6,000,000 manufacturing jobs and accumulated Trade Deficits of more than 12 Trillion Dollars. Last year we had a Trade Deficit of almost 800 Billion Dollars. Bad Policies & Leadership. Must WIN again! #MAGA” Prompted this response from John O Brennan.. “You show an amazing albeit unsurprising ignorance of how technology, automation, and the attendant evolution of economics and societies have transformed the world. Your simple minded policies--imposition of tariffs--have the potential to seriously damage our future prosperity.” Brennan is right. The Daily show did a 5 minute version of how automation is happening from self-driving vehicles to automated pizza makers. The reality is trump is living in a world that no longer exists and is trying to drag this country into that world. And too many people are letting him. At least once a day I am shaking my head and saying that MFer thinks it is 1950.

Hidden blacklist in GOP tax law could hit everyone from LeBron James to doctorsBy BRIAN FALER 03/08/2018 11:26 AM EST Republicans have created a big tax break for businesses, but not just any businesses. Their new tax law includes a little-noticed blacklist barring people working in certain fields, and earning more than $157,500, from claiming a new 20 percent deduction for unincorporated businesses called pass-throughs. It could prevent everyone from doctors to tanning salon owners to LeBron James from claiming the break. Republicans say they barred some types of businesses because they didn’t want just anyone to benefit from the lucrative break — they wanted it to be reserved for job creators, who employ other people. Some say there were political considerations as well, because lawmakers didn’t want to be seen handing out big tax cuts to wealthy doctors and lawyers, who aren’t expected to make the cut.But to critics, the list is arbitrary, vague and amounts to picking winners and losers. It includes more than a dozen areas, including "health," "law" and "consulting." It's up to the Treasury Department and the IRS, charged with implementing the new law, to figure out who exactly belongs on the blacklist. Officials will have to determine, for example, who is in the business of providing health services. It seems clear doctors will not be allowed to take the break, experts say, but what about someone who owns a gym or a tanning salon? Or someone who sells an X-ray machine to a hospital? What about a doctor (likely banned) who also earns income from owning a parking garage (likely not banned)? All of that will involve lots of messy judgment calls that promise headaches for Treasury, not to mention confusion for millions of Americans wondering if they can take the break.“People definitely want to know: Am I in? Am I out?” said Jeff Erickson, a principal at the consulting firm Ernst & Young. From the Hill....
Perry calls global moves to shift from fossil fuels 'immoral'
President Trump's Energy Secretary Rick Perry on Wednesday called the global shift away from fossil fuels "immoral," saying that it threatened poorer nations from developing economically.
"Look those people in the eyes that are starving and tell them you can't have electricity," Perry said. "Because as a society we decided fossil fuels were bad. I think that is immoral." This part left me speechless. I don’t if it’s stupidity on his part or a real effort to mislead the American people.
Perry was appearing at the CERAWeek by IHS Markit energy conference in Texas, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The United States has entered "energy realism," Perry said, as the Trump administration has pushed for more oil and gas production, as well as wind and renewable energy. If there is still a push for clean renewable energy in this country it’s in spite of the trump administration, not because of it.
America is now on the cusp of energy independence but the president wants to see this go further. He wants to share America's energy bounty with the world," Perry said. "We're going to be exporting multiple fuels. And we will export the same technologies that made us a clean abundant energy producer." The question is, can the world afford what trump’s selling.
Perry has previously spoken about blessing other nations with U.S fossil fuel for a "better quality of life or better opportunities."
Perry suggested in November that expanding the use of fossil fuels could prevent sexual assault.
"From the standpoint of sexual assault, when the lights are on, when you have light that shines, the righteousness, if you will on those types of acts," Perry said.
Perry did not mention the term "climate change" once during his Houston appearance, the Chronicle reported.
Perry has been an outspoken challenger to climate change and supported President Trump's decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Accord agreement.
Perry has previously denied that carbon dioxide emissions from humans were a primary component of climate change, a statement that was slammed by federal scientists and researchers.”

My husband threw out an interesting idea about these tariffs... anyone think Trump might be throwing a Hail Mary to help get Republicans out to vote in the Pennsylvania special election next week. Especially since he is getting a little wish-washy on how much and which countries now. I am not familiar with the demographics of the district up for grabs, but it would seem like this would be a hot topic with low information voters (whom support him pretty strongly) in a state that has a strong steel industry. So maybe he will move on after that election and not try to destroy our economy with one fell swoop I am hoping some other shiny object catches his attention... soon!

Press conference ........ Doing tariffs now! IF Canada and Mexico go along with what he wants with NAFTA, then they will not have to pay the tariffs. Otherwise no NAFTA, and they pay! Defying GOP, Trump orders steel and aluminum tariffsBY JORDAN FABIAN AND VICKI NEEDHAM - 03/08/18 03:40 PM EST
President Trump on Thursday officially announced steep tariffs on imported steel and aluminum, defying his own party and delivering on a campaign promise to fight what he sees as unfair practices by U.S. trading partners. Trump signed paperwork enacting tariffs of 25 percent on steel and 10 percent on aluminum during a hastily arranged event at the White House. "Today, I am defending America’s national security by placing tariffs on foreign imports of steel and aluminum," Trump said in the Roosevelt Room, flanked by steel and aluminum workers. Trump called the struggles of domestic steel and aluminum industry a "travesty." "This has been an assault on our country," he said. The president temporarily exempted Canada and Mexico from the tariffs, arguing his administration would continue talks with the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners. Trump has separately discussed withdrawing the United States from NAFTA. Trump alluded earlier there could be additional carve-outs for Australia, though it’s unclear what that will entail. “We'll be doing something with them,” the president said during a Cabinet meeting. “We'll be doing something with some other countries.” More at link: thehill.com/homenews/administration/377430-defying-gop-trump-orders-steel-and-aluminum-tariffs

" Look those people in the eyes that are starving and tell them you can't have electricity," Perry said. "Because as a society we decided fossil fuels were bad. I think that is immoral." This part left me speechless. I don’t if it’s stupidity on his part or a real effort to mislead the American people. Fossil fuel is bad, we all know that... smog is bad... smoke is bad!
Yes, there is a push for clean renewable energy, that is what we need.America is now on the cusp of energy independence but the president wants to see this go further. He wants to share America's energy bounty with the world," Perry said. "We're going to be exporting multiple fuels. And we will export the same technologies that made us a clean abundant energy producer." The question is, can the world afford what trump’s selling. With him we will no longer be a producer of clean abundant energy. And no the 3rd world cannot afford it, they are going solar! Or will we be poisoning the rest of the world? OOps blue is mine..It makes no sense! NONE of it.......
